I got a response from her about how I would have taken the cat and that shooting it was completely inhumane:
"Oh XXXX, you wouldn't want him, trust me! I couldn't put him off on anyone else, knowing how evil he was. I loved my cat, but I finally had to realize this. He was the devil incarnate. You know he started my parents house on fire, right? He tried to start ours on fire once, too. He was super aggressive and bit people. You wouldn't want him around you other cat! He would terrorize her. He did our other cat, who?s just now come out of hiding...Anyway it was over just as fast as at the vet, and $100 cheaper. I couldn?t justify spending $100 when he?d already cost us close to $2000 between damage to the house and vet bills.your cat! He would terrorize her. He did our other cat, who's just now come out of hiding...Anyway, it was over just as fast as putting him down at the vet, and $100 cheaper. I couldn't justify spending $100 when he'd already cost us close to $2,000 between damage to the house and vet bills.
And it was a very peaceful end. One minute he was looking at the trees and birds and the next minute he was gone."
Yes, peaceful right up until he got a bullet to the head. Yeah, that's much better than gentle euthanasia, or giving him to me. Good Lord.
Re: My ex-friend's response to her cat issue
I'm sorry. I just really don't understand how a cat can light a match, or a lighter, or a candle, or create and detonate an explosive device...
how exactly did the cat "try to burn [their] house down"?
She SHOT him? Holy hell...what a vile person.
And, seriously - cat as arsonist? Exactly how do you blame a cat for a fire, unless a candle is knocked over (therefore being the responsibility of the homeowner for not having the candle in a safe place away from the animal).

I've been trying to envision how a cat can purposely attempt to set a house on fire, and all I can see are funny cartoons in my head.
In real life however, he has knocked over lamps. If that's the case, then both my cat and dog are arsonists.
Pet behavioral problems can always be traced back to the owner. Always. Either as a direct cause, or as a result of not going through behavioral training. This biitch has no one to blame for her cat problems but herself, and she should not be allowed to own others. Ever.
You would shoot a healthy animal?
Definatley NOT!!! however I have gone that route with a sick & dying animal, that was my point... not that I agree with what she did.
This was her FB status on July 6th:
"I love my cat and I don't want to get rid of him! He is perfectly happy here at home. With his "dominate" parents."
So what happened between then and now, besides biting her dad again!!!!!

You should reply that she should've let you make that decision instead of ending the poor cat's life.?
What a jerk.
?
Had the cat been sick or severely injured I would agree with this. But to shoot a healthy animal just because you can't handle taking care of it is just disgusting and extremely irresponsible.

Agreed! I would never and could never take the life of a healthy animal.
Love = shooting animal in the head.
Interesting.
This is what I said back to her: "I have two fiesty animals that would have given Nemo an exciting home to live in. In fact, I bet Roxie would have put him in his place right away. But I guess we'll never know."
Exactly! I just think it's great that she is claiming to love this cat so much. I practically cry whenever I accidentally step on my dog's paw and hear his little yelp. To me, THAT is love. Love is where you care so much for something that you don't want it harmed in any way, let alone having your dad shoot it in the head.
Won't do any good. I got far enough in vet school to take the ethics class and it's perfectly legal to shoot your own animals (in the head so that they die instantly and not in a torturous way) for any or no reason whatsoever. Doesn't make it morally or ethically right in this case, but it is legal.
I don't know OK law, but it is NOT legal in OP's state.
