Nursery ?: Which colors do you like better? (LIP/PIP)

(I asked this on the Nursery board too, but it's so slow over there)

The paint color is Silver Sage from Restoration Hardware.

Do you like green/pastel pink or green/lavender better?  The theme will be white butterflies either way.

I had planned on doing this nursery:

But I picked dark furniture, and now that we've got the crib assembled, I'm thinking that the dark crib, dark glider, and dark dresser in the small room is going to be harsh and not very girlie, and that the room might need a more girlie pick-me-up.

Here is our crib:

So with that crib and Silver Sage walls from Restoration Hardware, do you think pastel pinks would be better for decorating or should I stick with the lavender?

TIA!

  • I vote lavender...but I may be biased by the fact that I dislike pink in general.

  • I honestly think that either with the color of your furniture will look adorable! If you want more of a girly look though, I would go with the pink.

  • I love the wall color. That is almost the same color as our nursery. We are having a boy however. We are using Navy and Red as our colors.
  • I think both work and both would be pretty I love how the purple pops in that picture you could always use a little of both if you can't decide.?
  • Lavender for sure, it's beautiful! And not so "cliche" with the pink.

  • I like the silver color, maybe you can find a silvery lavender color.  That would be pretty. As long as the accents are girlie it won't look masculine.

  • Thanks girls, this makes me feel so much better!  I'm not a pink person either, and I love the lavender, but started second guessing once I put in the dark furniture.  Glad to hear others like it too!

Same here.  I am doing a lavender and green room.  The walls will be very similar to yours and we are also going with dark wood.  The bedding we chose was Purple Dragonfly Dreams designed by JoJo.  I think it looks lovely and girly with out the obvious pink.  It isn't butterfly's, but the Dragonflys are a cream color, which is similar to your white butterfly idea.

  • You should definitely stick with your original idea, even with the dark furniture.  It'll look great!  I would do lavender accents like in the picture.

  • I vote lavender.  FWIW, I think the lavender will look amazing against the dark furniture, especially with the Silver Sage walls.

why not rock a little pink and some lavender?  They look beautiful together, esp. with the SS paint.

  • I think the lavender is more subdued, but it still is very very cute. If you want a bit more pop try the pink. Or even a few pink accents!

  • I vote for lavendar. I'm in the camp that thinks pink is ridiculously overdone for girls. I think lavendar, green, and white will look gorgeous with the silvery walls and dark furniture. Very elegant.

  • I vote lavender, but I'm also not a fan of pink, so I'm biased.
  • Purples are very nms.  I would stick with pinks- it's easier to find matching pink and green stuff right now than it is lavendar and green.
  • I vote lavendar. I love your crib too, where is it from/what brand? TIA & good luck!

This. If you do a light purple it looks girly without looking like the typical girl's room.
