Are these names too similar?

One of our fav's is Caitlin, but sil's name is Katie. (and yes they live close and we see them a lot)

I can't decide if this is an issue or not. WDYT?

I would think that the nick name for Caitlin would be Kate or Katie which is too close IMO.

If you don't plan on using a nn, I think it's ok, but like the other poster said, the nn would be Cate or Catie.?

It depends on if you're going to call her Caitlin or Cate. If you're going to call her Caitlin, I think it's fine. Caitlin is very pretty btw.

My name is Katie and if SIL named her baby Caitlin I wouldn't think anything of it.

I don't see why it would matter if it's a name you like. They're both different names, and assuming your SIL is closer to your age, your baby & her probably wouldn't ever be confused for each other, regardless.
