The following conversation between me and a co-worker (who moved here from Ohio) made me think of this.
Co-worker: Do you have big eagles around here?
Me: :thinking why is she asking about eagles: I have seen eagles before, I don't know if they are considered big
CW:  That answers my question
Me: Huh?
CW: Big Eagle is a grocery store
LOL!
Re: What grocery stores are in your area?
Giant, Giant Eagle, Safeway, Harris Teeter, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Wegmans and Acme.
I forgot Bloom which took over all the Food Lions!
Giant Eagle is the most amazing of them all!
I thought in Ohio it was Giant Eagle.
;-P
In NC they have Harris Teeter. I just thought that sounded funny.
We have Safeway, Basha's, AJ's, Whole Foods, Albertsons, Trader Joe's.
Randalls, Kroger, HEB, Food Town and then Super Walmart of course.
ETA: Whole Foods, which is where I shop the most!
ShopRite
A&P
Pathmark
Food LIon
Whole Foods
Trader Joes
Price Chopper
lol...it's Giant Eagle. Mostly we have Kroger. Krogering is synonomous with grocery shopping here. Kind of like Xeroxing.
haha, we nicknamed Giant Eagle the Big Eagle!
We have Giant Eagle, Wegmans, Quality Markets, Shur Fine, and Walmart Supercenter.
HEB, Kroger, Randall's, and then Brookshire Bros in the podunk towns. We used to have Albertson's but they pulled out of the Houston area, and then a long time ago we had Apple Tree and Gerland's Food Fair. Not sure whatever happened to those. . .
ETA: I forgot about Central Market (part of HEB corporate) and Whole Foods. Then the usual Sam's, Costco, Super Wal-Mart and Super Target.
Kroger, Meijer, Super Walmart, Trader Joes, VG's, Whole Foods, and loads of specialty stores.
EDIT- I am very jealous of anyone that has a Super Target. We have to many Super Walmarts so Target won't put them here.
Ha ha. I could have sworn she said Big Eagle. I guess it was Giant Eagle.
Wow, I haven't heard of most of those. We have Bi-Lo, Food Lion, Publix, and Super Walmart.
Most of the stores mentioned above mean nothing to me
I love me some Meijer, though!
Major chains: Vons, Ralphs, Albertsons, Whole Foods, Trader Joes
We have Shaws, Stop & Shop, Hanniford's, Roche Brothers, Sudbury Farms, Market Basket and Super Walmart. Then we also have Whole Foods and Trader Joes for organic and not run of the mill choices.
We get most of our food at the Walmart since it is soo much cheaper.
LOL that's funny.
We have Cub Foods, Rainbow, Whole Foods, Super Target (where I shop), Super Walmart, Trader Joe's and I'm sure others I forgot.

Publix, Sweetbay, Albertsons, and Winn Dixie.
And that is the order I like them in, too.
Cub Foods
Schnucks
Wal-Mart
Meijer
Jewel
Kroger
This
Tops, Wegmans, Quality, Aldis, Budwey and super Walmart
We have Giant Eagle, Shop and Save, Save-a-Lot, Walmart, and Sam's. Giant Eagle is okay, but the others kind of suck.
I miss Ukrop's, the greatest grocery store EVAH! It's found only around Richmond, VA.
ETA: I forgot Aldi's. Thank god for them.
*Publix
*Bi-Lo
*Harris Teeter
*Piggly Wiggly
*Food Lion
*Whole Foods
Ukrops got bought out! My ILs live there and my DH and I are moving there! I'm so mad that they got bought out!!
Publix, Winn Dixie, and Food Lion. Oh, and Whole Foods and Fresh Market
Finally, stores I know (except Sweetbay).
And yes, I also agree with the order.
I've heard they've been bought out by Harris Teeter. I'm hoping they won't be stupid and try to change it. I think Richmonders would be very pissed!
Apple Tree was bought out by Safeway, I believe and Gerland's is still around in Beaumont last time I drove through.
