TTC after 35

3 months!! really

Dear fellow bumpies,,,

DH received a phone call from the endocrinologist...he is starting on HCG injections three times a week. The kicker is it takes three months to work. Man that is a long time. The MD wanted us to come in for an appointment to learn how to give the injections..I am an RN and have been since 1993...I said "I don't really think that is necessary." However, We have an appointment as soon as we get the meds from the pharmacy..( I work and am part owner of a pharmacy)..Oh well I will go with a smile.

Now can you please give him something for his libido...(Which has been non existent)! We are both dying over here!!! (Actually I convinced him to go get acupuncture with the RE for this and he agreed)...yay..

thanks for listening

baze

Re: 3 months!! really

  • It's hard to believe that it takes 3 months to make a new batch of swimmers, isn't it? I was sort of glad it took some time because DH had been under so much work-related stress when we did his SA.

You're being a very good sport about the injection lesson! Good luck!

  • Maybe you could offer to teach the injections class :)

Your "fellow bumpies" intro makes me laugh every time!

  • We had to wait 84 days for new swimmers too.  They changed DH's blood pressure med so this cycle was a long time coming.

Also, what's up with the accupuncture for libido???

  • Dear Bumpie Baze,

Three months is a long time, and I am sure you know how to give a needle, ffs. But I hope it works earlier than that...

And we are always here to listen!

  • I hope the 3 months just flys by for you.  I can't believe they're making you come in to learn how to do injections.  They must have a secret to doing it just right!Stick out tongue

  • I am really hoping that the "idea" that we are injecting meds will change his outlook and perspective...

I guess 3 months isn't that long to wait...for the BFP...

To answer some questions..my RE is Chinese and has studied Accupuncture. He has a really interesting past and is known for his infertility expertise in CIncinnati..He says it can increase fertility in men and women. Particularly men. Using the right places, he can increase natural testosterone (synthetic actually kills sperm..not really what we want here).. He says it helps with the "mental magets (as he calls them)" associated with Male infertilty and low libido due to the  low testosterone. See my DH has had some trouble producing a sample b/c his testosterone is sooo low for some undetermined reason. Now he is convinced that nothing down there works..NOT true..but he is having a hard time BDing because of the magets..

DH and I have talked and really we have nothing to loose if it doesn't work besides $90.00 and an hour of DH's time. If it does work...we will be on our way again..

even with the low testosterone, DH produced 28 mil swimmers with good morph and motility...so now just to get rid of the mental stuff!

  • Good luck...I hope the 3 months flies by and that the accupuncture helps your DH!

  • Good Luck!  I hope the wait fly's by.  Left Hug

  • I can't believe they want to teach a nurse how to give shots!

Maybe there are puppets involved, or something...

I feel for you on the three months. We're out  just one month because I had to get a rubella shot, and it feels like forever. (Especially because this week's date with the dildo cam showed I have a really, really nice follicle about to pop.) But you're right - if 3 months later you get a BFP, it will all be so, so worth it!

Allow me to share a plus side: This month of going back to preventing pregnancy has completely taken the pressure off of both of us. The lovin' has been outstanding!!  Maybe the break will be just the ticket for your DH.

Your RE sounds fantastic with that blend of expertise, by the way.

    Good luck, Baze!
