I haven't even had my first appointment yet-its this thursday! So we will see what my OB suggests. At this point I just want to get through the first u/s then if everything is good decide on the NT. Although I am leaning toward doing the NT so that I can have another peek at my little one:) Although if my OB does a u/s at every appointment then I might pass as well. We will see---good question!

I'm doing the NT Scan tomorrow and will be 11w2d. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I think we are lower risk but because of my age I decided to do as much as I can to find out if there are any risks. We get blood work at the same time tomorrow as well as the quad screen in a few weeks. I'm mostly excited to see the baby again! Yea!

My insurance covers the NT scan and the quad screening, so I am doing both just for my own peace of mind. I guess I just want to know that everything is ok. If everything is not ok, that is something I want to know as well.

Based the information provided to you from your OBGYN, will you be having the NT scan @ 12 weeks or skipping it? Also, will you be doing the quad screening (blood test) @ 18 weeks or skipping that one?

Nope... none of it..

Quad Screening... Definitely not.. too many false positives..

NT... not offered.

We will have the NT Scan on 8/10. The doctor said that you have to have this done between 12 weeks to 12 1/2 weeks!! I will be on a business trip for most of that time, so the 8/10 will be at the 12 weeks 4 days. I'm exctited to take a peek!

My next appt is 8/20. I think I am going to miss it ... I am like 9 weeks now (dispite my dumb ticker) Due Feb 20th. If I dont miss it, I am going to do it. I also at that appt get to go billing and go through all the financials and insurance side of my pregnancy. But I do get another u/s and that will be my last until my 20 week u/s.

I have my regular OB apt tomorrow, not sure if she's going to do anything special. I have an "ultrascreen" on the 27th and I have no idea what that covers. I know it involves seeing the baby again (yay!) and blood work, so it probably includes the NT scan. I'm not worried at all, as I don't have any family history of genetic defects, and neither does hubby. I'm not even worried about discovering a MC, it definitely feels like something's cooking down there!

I'll be opting out of amnio if it is suggested - no interest in that procedure. I know my mom had one with me, but she was 36 at the time.

We had it with our first and are having it again. I'd like to know that everything is okay and felt it took some of the pressure off knowing that things looked normal. I know its not 100% but it still made us more comfortable.

They didn't offer the NT scan when I had DD, but this time my doc mentioned it at the first appointment. I told him that no matter what I would not terminate but he said that the scan can sometimes just helps diagnose some treatable problems and can help prepare. He also stressed that since it's noninvasive it doesn't hurt to do it. My first instinct was to say no, but then I figured it was another look at the baby, plus, if it turns out all good then I can stress less later.
