High-Risk Pregnancy

Low BP?

I have been on meds for high BP and checked tonight and it was 100/52. I checked again and it was 107/57. Is it possible for BP to get too low and if so, how low should I let it get before getting concerned? My last doctor visit on Thursday showed it was 127/67 and so my dosage has been kept the same.

Re: Low BP?

  • I would not consider that a low BP. Maybe under 90/50. Those numbers sound good!

  • Oh okay. I am used to it being around 150/86 ish so I thought normal was considered to be 120/80? I was just thinking the bottom number was really low.
  • No, those don't sound too low.  They sound really good, actually.
  • those are awesome BPs!

  • They say that pregnancy will naturally lower your blood pressure.

As for too low, at one visit to the OB, I had 90/50 and my doctor said that so long as I was still conscious, that wasn't too low.

  • Thanks! I ended up calling the OB Nurse this morning because it was still low when I woke up. She said that as long as I'm not feeling bad and having symptoms such as nausia, dizziness, seeing stars, etc then my blood pressure is fine. She said that if I get to feeling like that, take my bp and then call them immediatly. Also, she said it wouldnt be a bad idea to start recording my bp at certain times everyday to take to my next visit. I just took it an hour ago and it had already come up to 116/67 so I feel a lot better about it. It kind of scared me becasue I have never seen numbers that low!
