We're going to talk induction at tomorrow morning's 40-week appointment, and we'll likely schedule something for later this week or early next.
But I realized last night I have no idea what induction may involve. Anyone been induced at Hershey who could give some perspective? Do they try suppository first? Are you in the hospital the whole time?
Re: anyone been induced at Hershey?
I haven't been induced at Hershey, but I was "induced" for high blood pressure around 39w. I use quotation marks because I only received the prostaglandin gel, never pitocin, and that alone put me into active labor. At my hospital the pg wasn't given as a suppository, but as a gel in three rounds. I believe that whether or not you are given the prostaglandin depends on how soft your cervix is prior to the induction not necessarily anything specific to the hospital. Having said that, with my next pregnancy if I don't go into labor on my own, I'm going to request the pg gels (no mater what my cervix is doing) as I know that they have the ability to put me into labor. Why go through the pit. if it isn't necessary? I hope that helps even though it didn't answer your specific question.
I can't believe you are this close to the end already! Good luck to you. You'll be holding your little man in no time!
