Pregnancy:
My pregancy woes began at around 27 weeks when I was told to take it light after a U/S.
At 30 weeks I was given the information that I was on strict bed rest and needed to do U/S every 2 weeks, nst's 2 days a week, and my daughter may possibly have IUGR (asymmetrical)- small abdomen. I was put in antepartuem at 32 weeks for 6 days due to preterm labor that could not be stopped with terb. I was given mag and procadia and the steriod shots. I was found to be gbs pos. and treated for that also. I was released at 33 weeks with procadia. My daghter was given the all clear at 35 weeks! Thats when I began going to l&d every 2 or 3 days with contractions. Being sent home every time after they were stopped or slowed down on there own (no progress). My last dose of procadia was at 36 weeks. My last appt at the dr was at 36 weeks and 3 days. I wasn't given a internal due to having so many the previous week but I was tested again for gbs. I had reached the milestone they wanted which was 36 weeks and they wanted me to now try to make it to 38 weeks and then be induced but having nsts again every fri.
Birth story:
Samiah had another plan! in the middle of the night around 12 am i began feeling lots of contractions a little more than before. But being discouraged from the previous week I was determined not to go in until it was the real thing. I took a nice warm bath which helped and I ended up falling asleep. I woke up to cold water and contractions, lol. I tried to lay down in the bed until it was no longer comfortable. By then it was around 2 am. I told dad hey slowly wake up its time. I took the dog to the bathroom and tried to walk around for a little. Walking began to feel uncomfortable so we left. I arrived at the hospital around 3:15 to sit in the waiting room for a little over 2 hours. Our hospital had so many deliveries they were backed up!!!! (Turns out we were apart of it, 45 deliveries in 48 hours). I was seen in triage around 6 am I was 4 cms, 70% effaced 0 station and still posterior. The dr decided to keep me! I was given a bed around 7:30. I labored on my own like the dr. wanted until it slowed down completely around 11:00. I made it to 5-6 cms 80 % effaced and a 0 station, still posterior. The pitocin began in 2 units every 30 mins. and my water was broken. By 1:00 I was getting contractions every 2-3 minutes and the pressure began! I was no longer comfortable sitting down so I decided I wanted to stand up and sway. That turned out to help her come down. I kept feeling intense pressure in my bum which I knew was her head coming down so I bared with it until if felt like I needed to push. Dad was determined to help me get back in the bed and the nurse came back and checked me I was 7 cms and 100% effaced +1 station. The feeling to push only got worst. My nurse found another position for me in the bed to help relieve some of it. At this point my pain went from a 6 to a 10. The nurse didnt leave at this point she began geting the warmer ready for baby and the delivery items. She didnt have time to call my dr or another nurse. They heard me in the hallway yelling I needed to push and came in. I had one leg in the stirrups when the dr. turned around and put the other up her head popped out. I was so scared at that point she shot out like a rocket with no ones help. Panic mode beagn lol.. The next contraction another internal push came and she was out. Everyone was so shocked at how fast it all happened and I literally had no control. The whole experience looking back was amazing at the time words cant express all the emotions I was feeling.
Samiah was born at 2:31 on the 15th. Today is our first day waking up at home and starting our day
She was 5 lbs. 7 oz. 18 ins long. Healthy as a fox ![]()
P.S. My gbs came back neg. 2nd time around and my doctor and nurses apologized for what they felt was me overreacting and not it actually being time.
