Pregnant after a Loss

I'm very pissed and hurt (long)

Today I babysat out in the country.  It's about 15 miles from where I live.  There aren't neighbors, nothing.  I wasn't too concerned.  I show up, and a lady greets me who I don't know.  I've only met the mom.  Basically, mom and dad are out of town, and dad will be back sometime after 8pm.

Everything goes great, I'm exhausted from running after 2 small boys.

At about 7:15, I just put the boys down, the power goes out - fuuck.  I check the circuit board thing- it's fine.  For the life of me, I cannot find any matches or flashlights.  Remember- no neighbors, no street lights, nothing.

I'm FREAKING out now (I live in a big city in an apt surrounded by ppl).  I call DH in a panic and literally he says, "What do you expect me to do?"  Ummm bring me a damn flashlight you jerk!!!! I pictured myself sitting alone in the dark in the middle of nowhere waiting for a man to come home WHO IVE NEVER EVER MET!!!!! Doesn't that sound scary??

I was beyond hurt.  He refused to come basically saying there's nothing he could do.  Yeah freaking right.  He was simply acting selfish and dense.

Luckily, the dad got home at 8 so it was still light out.  He said their generator went out.  I didn't even know ppl still used those.  I get home and DH goes, "Oh yeah, real dark and scary."  I explained how I was in an incredibly vulnerable situation and he should've been there for me and Jack- bottom line.

I'm so angry with him and really hurt by his actions.

  • I called my parents in a panic while I was babysitting asking what I should do (yes, I'm 24 and still call my parents in a panic, I'm kind of a baby.) They asked if he was coming, and I simply said "no." Now they are all pissed at him and he thinks I talked trash to them. I would NEVER talk trash about my husband to my parents. I'm better than that and he should know it.
  • I am sorry, men are stupid.

This. ?He should have been more sensitive.?

  • The people who lived there should have shown you how to check the generator.  DH definitely could have brought you a flash light or come out and stayed with you.

We have a gen cuz we live in the country and lose power alot.  Its not our main power source though.  That family must have a HUGE generator!
