Babies: 9 - 12 Months

8 month old how many oz? I don't think she is getting enough

I have read that they should be getting a minimum of 24 oz.  She is only taking 4 bottles and barely over 5 oz.  Sometimes 4 full bottles is a struggle.  The only bottle she eats more than 5 1/2 is her morning bottle.

Should I skip some solids and do 5 bottles?

She eats 2-3 solid meals a day, but sometimes the second is just 1/2 of what she didn't eat with the first....

  • C is eating about 34 oz of formula a day. ?He takes about 3 oz of solids on a good day.

Babies should be getting most of their nutrients from BM / formula at this age. ?Did you discuss with your pedi? ?Is your pedi concerned about her intake??

  • DS gets 32oz of formula a day and has 3 solid meals everyday. He's a big eater.  :)

    He gets an 8 oz bottle at 5:30a, 10ish, 2p, and 6:30p.

His meals are at 8a, 12p, and 5p.

  • I do mix BM in with most of her solids.  So she is getting some more there.  It is a fight to get 4 bottles in her.  She STTN and is down from 7-8ish-6ish.

  • Our daughter is 6.5 months old and the pedi said that as long as she gets a minimum of 20 oz from the bottle (we are FF now), that's fine.   Whatever she eats for solids in addition is fine.   We have a long and lean girl, she is super active so she burns a ton of calories, and usually only ends up getting just over 20 oz of formula - so I'm not worried.

  • Starting at 6 months old my pedi said we could go to 3 solid meals a day and offer formula after each meal.  I just had the worst time getting him to take bottles in the middle of the day and after meals.  He LOVES solid foods and has been eating them regularly since 4 months.  DS may get about 20 oz of formula a day.  He still gets up to feed at night and takes anywhere from 6-10 oz.  He's had no health or weight issues.  I think most of this depends on the baby and what the pedi suggests.

  • Our LO gets most of her feedings from her bottles. She gets 4 bottles a day of 7-8oz. each. She gets at the most 2 solid food feedings per day, but it's usually just one in the evening. She is growing at a steady rate. We haven't really been pushing the solids yet. She's just learning to put food in her mouth, so we may start giving her more solids.
