NBR: VIN #/Carfax report

Someone that emailed about our car wants to run a carfax report on our car.  not a problem - the car has had no accidents and is serviced regularly.  but, what info can they get with the vin#?  will it tell our names and address and stuff like that?

    standard practice. ?They cannot get your personal info from the VIN. ?They cannot do the carfax report without the VIN. ??

    Could you do the report and give them a copy? that way you'd have it if anyone else wanted it? ?I guess you'd have to pay for it then though...

    Your VIN is typically visible from outside the car anyway (most makes/models display it near the dash on the driver's side - visible through the windshield) so it's not like it's top secret info. I wouldn't worry about giving it to them at all.
