Advice for those having a c-section

Steal as many mesh panties and giantass pads as possible.

If you cough, sneeze, laugh...hold a pillow over you incision area, hard. Trust me. I choked on some cranberry juice after mine and wanted to die. The nurses rushed over and helped me.

Do you breathing excerises, it hurts a bit but, you will need to do it. It helps in the long run.

When you get home, use the headboard on your bed to get up and down, your arms will eventually give out on you.

Take yours meds when it's time, even if you don't hurt.

Once, you run out of mesh panties, wear high-rise granny panties to keep anything off of your incision.

Hunching over and shuffling your feet will make walking easier the first few days.

If you have stairs, take them one at a time. Going up is easier than going down.

Re: Advice for those having a c-section

  • Dillon is absolutely adorable!!!!

Thank's for the c/s advice.  I don't plan to have one, but in case I have an emergency c/s this will come in handy.

  • I think you summed it up well - but needed to add that your son is super cute!!!!!!!!

Also, don't be scared to pee... I was frightened and crying, just knew it was gonna hurt to pee afterward - but not so much...

  • Thanks for the advice, hopefully I wont need it, but it is good to know.

And Dillon is SO CUTE!  Gosh.

  • Do you have a higher bed?  I had a c/s with DS but have bought a new mattress since and it's really high.  I am wondering how I am even going to get in bed this time around (I'm pretty short).  I may need DH to make me a small set of steps.

Your son is quite the cutie!!

  • Very good advice. Thanks for the post. I have already told DH to make sure I don't forget the mesh panties and pads when we leave the hospital.

Good advice, except for the hunching over.  You need to get yourself walking as upright as possible as soon as possible.  Hunching over might be more comfortable at first, but it will be harder to stand up straight the longer you wait.

I had a c-section 11 days ago...and this is the best advice!! Mesh panties are wonderful! I'm still wearing them :) Also, when you have free time, keep your feet up to avoid swelling!

  • Also, put an ice bag on the incision over your shirt. Better than medicine to help with the itching and soreness!
  • The only thing I have to add to this list is take the maximum dosage of stool softeners immediately after you give birth and every day thereafter!

I delivered on Sunday and even taking SS every day didn't go until Saturday and it HURTS LIKE HELL with an incision to try and go that first time.
