3rd Trimester

Just a question, not trying to stir up some sheeot.

Do you get offended at people who use the terms "preggo/prego'?

Or "Baking"? Or "Cooking"? When it come to their LO?

I am not THE authority on what to get pissy about, but I don't understand why? I understand when people get mad at people for staring, making weight comments, including but not limited to "twin" comments, asking inappropriate questions, or Lord help them, unwanted belly touching. But I was just wondering, is it just an annoyance?

Just bored on Friday. . . figured I might get a colorful response.

  • Does "preggo/prego" offend me?  No.  Slight irritation at the word itself, yes.

  • I don't care about "baking" or "cooking" but preggo/prego makes me want to shoot fireballs out of my hands. To me, it makes people sound like they are 12 years old; I don't think most realize it.
  • nah, it doesn't bother me.  But then again, I am not easily offended and find most people overly sensitive.

  • I don't get offended by the term "Preggo" I just think it is higly highly annoying and people souned stupid saying it.

But then again EVERYTHING people say to me lately I get annoyed about. Ha Im a pleasure to be around these days..

  • those terms don't bother me. Just the rude, thoughtless comments.

  • Prego and Preggers annoy me.

I cringe if someone says them to me.I think it sounds really ignorant and childish.

  • Offended?  No.

Do I find it immature?  Yes.

I won't call someone out for it, I tend to just look past it.

    This, 100%!! ?Really annoying.

  • It doesn't offend me - but it is annoying.  And "baking" doesn't give the best mental image, but it's a tad less annoying.
  • IMO it's daft to get offended by things like that, or flame because people use expressions you don't like. I'm not a huge fan of "preggo" but each to their own. It's not a big deal, but seems like some people thrive on drama and it's an easy (but lame) excuse (i.e. earlier post I assume you're referring to!).
  • that doesn't bother me- i don't really care what term people use but the staring and unwanted belly touching is where i draw the line.....
  • Eh? Depends on who says it. There are some people who can make anything sound annoying lol...
  • One of my guy friends call me "preggo" instead of my name.  It really makes me mad because my name is Amy...not preggo, but I just let it go because it's not worth making him feel bad over.

My brother also calls me preggo, but he is 19 and well I wouldn't expect anymore from a guy who asked me if I could suck my belly in now. Stick out tongue  My pregnancy has been a great wake-up call from him about safe sex. haha.

I usually just ignore the comments I don't like.  What I don't get mad about it when someone says "whoa you're huge" or "you're getting big."  I KNOW I'm getting big so I don't mind if they think so as well.  I know they are talking about my belly and it growing = Henry growing.

  • I think they sound immature and I just brush it off...b/c I think it makes the other person sound ridiculous. My neighbor yells "hey pregger" everytime I see her...I think she thinks she's cute and friendly, I think she sounds immature..no biggie though. I wave/say Hi and move about my business.  Cooking/baking doesn't bother me, although I don't think I've used those terms in public (I've said them to DH)
  • Prego annoys me but doesn't offend me.  Someone posted the other day how angry they get over people say they are baking a baby. I don't get the big deal. None of those terms are worth getting upset over. But some (like preggers and prego) do sound kind of childish to me.
  • Doesnt bother me. we like to the of our peanut as boiling. Ive gotten the "theres just one in there?!" comment alot but most of the time its in the line at the grocery store or looking at baby clothes, I dont mind it actually, I like having the interaction with people regardless of what it is.
  • I have a friend who calls me Pretty Preggo and it doesn't bother me at all.  I think it's rather sweet.

  •   They don't bother me.  There are much worse things people can say about a pregnant woman!
  • They don't really bug me but I'm not overly sensitive or annoyed by things in general.

  • It doesn't offend me, but it's certainly not the most elegant way to describe being pregnant.  The only comments that really annoy me are when people feel the need to comment on what I'm eating.  THAT makes me want to snap at them that I'm X months pregnant and still weigh less than them.

  • My husband calls me "preggers" as an affectionate nickname, so it doesn't bother me. I have been annoyed with becoming everyone's personal buddha statue though. Yesterday a woman at work actually put her hand on my back and then started pushing on my belly. She said she was "hugging" the baby, but I told her it wasn't comfortable and asked her to stop. People are strange.

  • I don't care if someone calls me preggo, preggers or tells me I have a baby baking in there.  It has never bothered me at all.

  • No those don't bother me.
  • Preggo/preggers doesn't 'offend' me but I tend to immediatly tune out anything else they might have to say. Don't want advice from a 12 yr old. Baking/cooking for some reason doesn't warrent the same response from me. ??
  • Certainly doesn't offend, doesn't even really annoy -- as a high school teacher, I'm sort of inured to the use of slang, "sho' fo'" (i.e., "short form) and text talk. I think most people who use the term are being ironic -- they realize it's immature.

What REALLY annoys me is when a male friend of mine calls me "Preg-shley" (my name is Ashley). Ew! I just hate it. It's so effing lame.

  • Preggo doesn't bother me so much and all my friends call me cute preggo and I even catch myself saying it occassionally. PREGZILLA is absolutely the most horrid thing you could say to me or any other "preggo" lol. I could probably hurt someone just thinking about it. As if pregnancy isn't hard enough then we have to be the ones targeted on top of it! DH called me that once jokingly and well lets just say we no longer allow that word in our house...hehe Angry

That would be a silly thing to get offended about. I do get annoyed by the terms thoughs. How hard is it to say the term pregnant? I also think it sounds very childish when people use those descriptions.

  • It doesn't really bother me...in fact i kinda like it sometimes...is that weird...more so preggers than prego...i dunno. I guess if a stranger said it i wouldn't be too happy....better than "are you having twins....or how much weight have you gained?"
  • I am, in general, opposed to any comment on my curent physical state.  I don't care what word you use to describe it, if you aren't my doctor, my husband or my mother, you don't get to comment.  Period.

But of course, I'm a grade A *** about these things.

  • For some reason the only pregnant "term" or "question" that comes up that bothers me is preggo/preggers, etc.  I'm not offended, but they just sound so annoying, childish, immature, and silly.

Prego, preggers doesnt bother me at all.  I dont know why it bothers people on here.  Just as long as it's not fat a$$ I dont care.  DH is the only one that says KU'd or bun in the oven to me and it makes me laugh.  There's my 2 cents
  • Preggo or baking never bothered me and still don't.

Totally agree! I often times feel that people need to get overthemselves and just deal...

  • Prego, bun in the oven, whatever.  IDK.

This for me. I dont mind weight comments either personally, most of these kinds of comments are meant to be annoying, people just think they are the first and only to make the comment, not realizing that 10 other people have made the same comment. It just rolls of my back.

sorry, suppost to say "most of these comments AREN'T meant to be annoying"

  • I use prego all the time, except on here, of course. I also use baking and cooking when referring to LO being in there. I do not really like belly touching by people other than family...

I dont understand why prego gets the panties in a bunch...i think it is really funny...but i dont get uptight and snobby about any kind of words...im kind of known for using random/vulgar words when referring to other things..people usually think im pretty funny. For example I think that calling the toilet/bathroom the "pisser" is hilarious.
