High-Risk Pregnancy

~~Bed Rest Mama's Friday Check!!~~

We had a few babies last week - yeah and congrats to all our bed rest mama's graduates!!!  I have cleaned up the list by removing some names where the EDD had past and we had not heard from the mama for a while - but if I mistakenly took you off, please let me know!

Please let me know if anyone needs to be added or removed, or if anything about your status has changed. Also, I am newly on bed rest so I will do a QOTD but since I had not previously participated - there may be a repeat of questions you guys have done before...

Here goes!

Here is a list of nesties who can commiserate together during bedrest. Nothing better to do, right? Share your story, progress, news, and any ideas of how to keep yourself busy. Check in will occur each day on the High Risk Pregnancy Board in the mornings.

Post back with your info if you?d like to be added to the list!

TGIF! Does it even matter that it is Friday?

Re: ~~Bed Rest Mama's Friday Check!!~~

  • I have been getting great BP readings all week. I am 26w 2d today. Today is when I was hospitalized when I had Ethan.... I cannot wait to get past 27 weeks!!!!

QOTD: Are your parents married, divorced or never were married - to each other? Do you admire your parents relationship?

My parents are married, to each other and have been for 38 years. They grew up in the same small town - were boyfriend and girlfriend from 2nd grade on. Went to prom, all that together. Got married when they were 19 and had 6 children. All in all my parents love each other and have a good relationship. I think my mom can be mean to my dad and my dad does not stick up for himself but when it comes down to it, they love each other and have been through so much together. My dad's dad died when he was nine and to this day my dad has a card my mom made him that says, I am sorry your dad died, I'll share my dad with you. Sweet.

  • No updates here-next appointment is Monday and then Wednesday we meet with the doc to set our induction date! YAY!

QOTD: My parents are happily married (24 years). I do admire their relationship, because it seems no matter how bad it gets they always stick it out together.

  • I'm going in for another NST today after having 2 non-reactive ones, I'm hoping Emerson decides to pass this one with flying colors to make up for me worrying for a week! Hopefully my BP is down, too... highest reading ever at my last NST! ANd I finally get to see my OB and get some questions answered... if only I can remember everything I want to ask!

QOTD- my parents have been married for 24 years, to each other. No previous marriages. I wouldn't say I model our relationship after theirs... they both admit the first 5 years were hell (got married b/c I was on the way). I admire that they stuck through it and have a great relationship now.

  • Update:  I had another dr appt today and my bp was up slightly but still ok.  130/80  The good news was I had no protein in urine and no weight gain...I seriously think this is the first appt where I have not gained weight.  I was elated!  Baby did great on NST and we are back home for more bedrest.  My dr. is back from vacation on Monday when I will see her again. I am so happy because while I don't want to jinx what could happen this weekend I feel like we are going to make it until 36 weeks and my dr. will be back!

QOTD: Are your parents married, divorced or never were married - to each other? Do you admire your parents relationship?

My parents are married to each other and have been for about 35 years.  I don't know the exact amount..eeek.  While there have been times I did not admire their relationship, I do admire that they have always stood by each other through everything.

  • ilvmyfireman-

AWESOME!!!! I know you cannot count out this weekend - but you are sooo on the home stretch to get to 36 weeks and your own doctor! Congrats!

I feel like crapola today.  I got a migraine last night.  I'm not allowed to take motrin anymore because of all of my issues (and I'm almost 32 weeks anyway, which is the cutoff for all moms unless they have an indication for it), so all I could take was my prescription atarax and some sudafed and go to bed.  Well, I wake up today and of course my head feels like it's going to fall off.  I go to my big guns that I reserve in case all else fails, the stadol nasal spray.  I take 2mg worth and go back to bed.  DH k nows I usually go to my grand rounds lectures on Fridays, for no other reason than I enjoy seeing my friends, so he asks if I am feeling bad enough to go to triage.  Me, misunderstanding him in my drug stupor, I say, "No, they aren't keeping track of the grand rounds I miss anymore so I don't have to work in triage as punishment like everyone else."  Nice.... So he laughs and leaves.  I wake up 3 hours later, still feeling like crapola, and take 2 mg more.  My phone rings at 11am (2 hours later), my head feels marginally better, but I feel like I must hurl.  I don't, but I want to.  It's been 3 1/2 hours and I'm holding strong.  DH is bringing sprite home.  He rocks.  We still have not discussed the length of my postpartum leave.  He may not rock so much then.  Oddly, baby was awake and kicking all through drugged stupor.

QOTD: My mom and dad divorced when I was 8.  They only married in the first place because of my oldest brother, and their marriage sucked.  They fought a lot.  When I was 12, my mom remarried to my stepdad, her old high school sweetheart.  The same year, my dad remarried to the wicked witch of the west.  My dad died when I was 17.  I have not heard from my stepmom since I graduated from medical school in 2006.  My mom died in 2001.  My stepdad is the awesomest guy in the world.  My brothers and I are very close to him-- he raised me a lot more than my real dad, and he is very excited and worried about the baby.  He is buying our rocker and keeps calling and asking about this specification or that.  It is totally cute.  His own son died just before he turned 29 (I was 25 at the time), so we're all he has, and he's all we've got.  I don't look at my parents' marriages as a guide.  They were all pretty volitile.  None of them were good communicators.  DH's parents have been together 30-35ish years.  They're a pretty good example of communication, but we're more affectionate.  I think we beat them for that.  Haha.

Writing this out makes me miss my mom.  I have missed her a lot these past few weeks.  It is hard for me to read posts where people are complaining about how their mom doesn't do X, Y, or Z or how their mom insists on this or that.  I just wish my mom were here.  I wish I could pick up the phone and call her and ask her a question, any question.  Especially now this is such a hard pregnany.  But most people take that for granted.  Cancer took my mom too young, and most days I've accepted that.  But some days, well.... Some days are still harder than others, even after 9 years.
