How many ultrasounds have you had so far?

My mom finds it amazing that i've had so many already since back when she was pregnant with my brother and I, she never had one. So far i've had 4 and I have another one in about a month.

First one - b/c they thought i was farther along than I really was...

Second one - make sure the baby was still growing and didnt die....

Third one - They said thats when they generally do the first one and then when i got their they had to change my due date again....

Fourth one - The gender appt!

(coming next month) Fifth one - bc they couldn't get an image of babys spine this last time (she wouldn't roll over)

Has anyone else had this many??? It feels like a lot even though I know they all had reasoning behind them. Most ppl I know say they've only had one. I was just curious if this was a new thing (multiple u.s. visits) or if my baby is just a strange case.

I have my 4th u/s scheduled next month. My OB is monitoring my marginal placenta previa.

I had 3 by week 20.

1 - at 9 wks to make sure there was a baby and heartbeat

2- at 13 wks for nt scan

3 - at 19wks for gender/growth but we didn't find out sex

I don't have any others planned unless I pay for the 3D one or something is wrong though...

I've had 3 (14 weeks)

1st one- they also thought i was possibly further along then I really was.

2nd one- they needed to check the babies progress from the first one

3rd one- normal 8 week appointment

4th one- in a few weeks for gender!!!

I have had about 3 or 4 as well. But only because my old OB didnt have a new heart machine, so he used the ultrasound machine to confirm a heartbeat...not the best technology, but hey, I got to see the baby.

I've only had one so far (NT scan) and will have another one next month. I'm having a very normal pregnancy thus far without any complications.

4 I had bleeding in the first tri and the where monitoring my SCH. I don't get another for a couple of months.

I've had 4 also.

1st because my betas weren't exactly doubled

2nd because they wanted to check growth along with my growing betas

3rd a quick one in my OBs office on their little U/S machine

4th the "big" one at 19weeks

I'm hoping for a 5th to check my placenta to see if it has moved at all from its anteriour locaiton.

I've had 2, I will have 3 total.

1- transvaginal 10 week standard u/s

2- transabdominal n/t scan

3- developmental 20 week u/s

I've had 2 so far, but the doctor I use does a minimum of 5 for everyone. Our next one is on the 28th to find out the gender!

12 so far. I had a complicated pregnancy with DS, and am high risk with this one as well. I will begin having them at every appointment (2x's a month) from here on out. Yay for great insurance.

I've had 3.

1-to see if there was actually a baby

2-12 wk scan just to make sure things look normal

3-18 wk to find out the sex, but baby wouldn't have it!

4- will be July 29th to try for the sex again

I get one at every OB visit. Not because I'm high risk but because that's just how she does it.

A lot of women will just have the one around 20wk so compared to them you would have had a lot so far but except for the one you labeled as gender appt they all sound medically necessary which is why you probably had them. And the gender one isn't just to find the gender, it is an anatomy one where they are measuring and looking at everything. And really, the number of u/s depends on your insurance and your doctor.

I have had 3 so far. 1st at 11wk for NT scan. 2nd at 18wk, 3d (1st anatomy u/s) at MFM because there isn't a MFM dept where I am at. 3rd at 21wk, 1d (2nd anatomy u/s) with my actual doc (no clue why he had me come in for this one since he is the one that referred me to MFM and that u/s came back fine). I have a 4th one coming up next month which is just a standard follow up that MFM does where they will be making sure baby is still measuring fine and getting a better look at the kidneys. I don't expect to have any additional ones after that.

I've had 2... one to verify how far along I was (cause I really had no idea!) and then the big anatomy scan at 19 weeks. I don't expect any more either unless there are complications towards the end.

I've had 4.

1 at 9w1d when I called the office bawling because I thought I was spotting, and my dr was on vaca, but the WONDERFUL doctor there did a U/S to make sure baby was still fine.

1 at 11w as my "first" official appointment.

1 at 18 weeks when DH BEGGED to know the sex at the appt where I switched doctors. We had to pay $50 for this one.

1 at 20w. Normal anatomy ultrasound.

No more are planned unless something comes up.

I have had 2, one at 7 weeks to figure out how far along I really was, and then the normal one at 20 weeks.

Five.

First was a "pregnancy confirmation" ultrasound (this is pretty common in my doctor's practice).

Second was due to spotting and other issues (obviously everything was fine).

Third was the NT scan.

Fourth was the anatomy scan.

Fifth was to measure the blood flow in and out of her heart because she refused to cooperate at the big u/s.

She has yet to see the light of day and I already have 23 pictures of her. At this rate she'll fill up her album before she's born.

First at 7 weeks in the ER.

Second at 12 weeks in the Dr. Office for dating.

Third at 16 weeks at the 3D/4D for gender.

Fourth at 17 weeks again at 3D/4d for gender.. she wouldn't spread 'em for the tech the first time, so we got a free re-do.

Fifth at 20 weeks for big u/s

Sixth will be next month.

I've had 2: one at 12 weeks (because I have an awesome midwife and she pulled some strings so that I could see my LO) and the anatomy scan at 18 weeks. I'll have a third at ~32 weeks.

My mom has the same thoughts about ultrasounds. She cannot understand why we have so many, and doesn't think I should get a 3D-4D.

I've had a ton... At least 10. But, I had ones very early b/c of IVF, and then I had 2 bleeding episodes early on that they brought me in for, and in addition to that, my doctor does ultrasounds at every visit until after the big ultrasound. I thought I was done, but they also couldn't get a shot of the spine, so I'll have at least 1 more.

I haven't had any yet. I will get 2 throughout this pregnancy. One around 20 weeks, and one around 32 weeks to check for IUGR.

Week 10- Dating

Week 12- NT Scan

Week 14- Development/gender check!

Week 20- Big U/S

I'll have another at 32 weeks to check to make sure my low-lying placenta hath moved.

The first was to dertermine how far along I was (i had no clue b/c I was still nursing when I became PG with this LO)

The next will be to determine sex and everything.

I will probably have 2 more this time since that is the norm at the practice I am at (as explained to me yesterday) As well as my Dh and I are springing for a 3D/4D this time.

I've had 3 so far:

8w4d - make sure baby is there

18w1d - the BIG ultrasound

22w0d - fetal heart scan

I have another scheduled for:

26w0d - growth scan

27w1d - 3d/4d ultrasound

I will also have another 2-3 ultrasounds, one for every month, looking at growth.

I have an u/s at every appt. It's just what my OB's practice does. So...I've had 3 so far. My fourth will be in two weeks.

I've had 5, with one more planned. First 3 were to rule out possible ectopic PG, then NT scan and Level 2 u/s (because I'm 38). I'll have another at 28w because of marginal placenta previa. With my first PG, I also had them when I went past my due date.

1st - viability check and check to make it was intrauterine, given my history of ectopic pregnancy and pregnancy loss. Had this been normal pregnancy, I would have had 3 - this one, the NT scan (optional, we opted for it since insurance would cover it) and the big one.

2nd - at the ER after passing a very large clot in a gush of blood. Baby was fine, no indications or sources of bleeding.

3rd - private u/s with a sweet independent tech who worked us in at her home after a serious bleeding episode, trying to find the source of bleeding (unsuccessful in that respect - again, baby fine, no sources of bleeding).

4th - NT scan

The fifth will be the big u/s. Any others after that will be due to more medical complications. Most of my mw's client have ONE. It's crazy. I've had 4, will have 5 and my mother had none either pregnancy.

Adding, my insurance covers 1 standard. The rest have to have legitimate medical causes. My previous history was sufficient cause for the first one, and the NT scan was covered as part of a diagnostic procedure. We paid out of pocket for one and the other was covered as part of the ER bill. The standard one is the one coming up, lol.

By 19 weeks, I had had 6. I have had 2 previous miscarriages so I was being monitored for growth (and the last was for gender). Also, 1 was the (optional) NT scan.
