So, I have been on modified bedrest for just over a month, and my husband and MIL have been doing the food shopping, helping care for 2 yo DD, and doing cleaning, daycare pickups, etc. I am really grateful for the help, but despite the fact that before the bedrest I did EVERYTHING that they are doing and more, and I worked, too, they complain about how stressful it is and how hard it is to do all of this. Plus, on weekends, we get sitters for Saturday and Sunday mornings, when I used to take DD out to the park, to do errands, etc., to keep her busy and engaged without any babysitter help.
Hmmm...I am pregnant with twins, and before the bedrest, I was on the go for 13 hours a day with no break, ate lunch at my desk, and took care of everything around here, all by myself. They probably think I am just grumpy, but you know what? I have stood my ground several times in this conversation, reminding them that I did it alone before, and that they need to respect the amount of work it takes to work, care for a kid or kids, and take care of a household, too. All of a sudden, two people sharing the load is harder than me doing it alone? Hey, if I had a second pair of hands all of the time, I would be thrilled!
