Baby shower was a bust. vent
Not to sound ungreatful or rude, but my baby shower was just not that great. There was alot of family fights the week before my shower. My Cousin who is also pregnant was put in the hospital the Monday before the baby shower she was the one hosting it. I said lets just cancel it. She was like no your mom and jojo ( my other cousin) will take over. I had to have the shower early for my cousin and my grandmother so it would fit into there schedule. I asked for it to be on a Sunday but they choose a Saturday. My mom kept building it up and said don't buy anything until after your shower. My family always lets me down. I always have to work to there rules just to be with them or we would never do anything. My mom is crazy like legally crazy. So it was a hot mess of a shower. I didn't get anything I registered for. (not a joke) And we had like 42 rsvp and only like 19 people showed up and on Sunday I got alot of call saying I thought it was today. And Dh 's mom didn't even show up or call to say she wouldnt make it . It's her first grandbaby and our first baby after a loss and three years of working towards getting pregnant. It's not about the gifts. I just thought everybody could set aside the fights and stuff for the sake of this baby I guess not. No puppies and rainbows here. I hope all you other bumpies have good showers. sorry so long.

DH's family is exactly the same - not his mom or dad but the extended family..My shower with his fam is this weekend...I hope i dont kill anyone...Im sorry to hear it's like this for you too..

oh, you must be my sister! I had a similar sitch. Legally crazy mom - check. Disappointing shower - check. Drama the week before - check. RSVPs no showing - check. Ya my mom threw me the shower at my house and I wound up doing all the work. I may as well have thrown my own shower! Adding insult to injury, she was a total B the whole time. Glad it's over.
Sorry you have to deal with that. I feel your pain and it's so not fun!
(((hugs))) sorry it sucked. I didn't get much off the registry either...oh well, take some time and go shopping, find a way to enjoy yourself with it.
