Should I be concerned?

Hi, ladies,

I'm not normally a hypochondriac, but for the past couple of days, I've been feeling really crummy and wanted to find out if this is something I should be concerned about, or if I should just chalk it up to weird SE's from the meds.  I'm on Met 1500 mg (due to anovulation and insulin-resistant PCOS) and currently, on ProVera to induce AF b/f starting Clomid.  This is day 8 of the ProVera, and for the past few days, my boobs have been really sorry and painful to the touch (TMI, I know), and I've been nauseous, dizzy, with tinnitis (I can hear my heartbeat in my ears, which sounds weird, I know, but it's really disturbing), with throbbing headaches, and have had some GI upset.  Are these SE's, or do I need to call my RE or my PCP?

Thanks!

Dina

Re: Should I be concerned?

  • how long have you been on Met?  All of these except the boob pain are s/e's I had from Met within the first couple of months of taking it--they went away and I rarely get any of those anymore.  Boob pain could certainly be the provera.  however, if you're really concerned, I would call your RE.

  • Hey there,

    Thanks for the reply!

I've been on Met since April, and I did have GI upset, but it disappeared after about a month.

  • Weird - I had all of this too, about 2 cycles ago.  I wasn't sure if I was dying, or pregnant, or what!  I just felt STRANGE.  I did not have the tinnitus, but everything else was the same.  I woke up once in the middle of the night to pee, and was so dizzy that I couldn't see straight and had to sit down on the floor for a few minutes.  After a few days, it went away, and low and behold, AF shows up.  It was a really heavy-duty AF, but the weird issues all went away afterwards.  I had done a shot of Ovidrel this cycle, so I wasn't sure if this was all related or not.  I still don't really know.

If it continues, you probably want to call your RE, but I wouldn't be surprised it it was related to the provera and the way it affects your body.

    GL!
  • It makes me feel so much better that I'm not alone in weird-symptom-land.  I did end up sucking it up and calling my RE after I got dizzy mid-afternoon, and he said it was probably, due to the progesterone.  He said that just b/c I didn't have those side effects last time I was on the ProVera, doesn't mean that I wouldn't have them this time.  At least, feeling lousy got me out of doing the dishes last night with DH!  :-)
