You can ask the artist that had done the piercing as well as your doctor. Both will have a good idea as to the effect and when to remove them if need be. (I would think that if you had a closed hoop earing that it wouldnt be much of a problem as long as the ball isn't loose while the baby is feeding.)
That being said, My piercing artist told me that my doctor can put mine backk in after delivery while the anesthesia and such are still in effect. I can wear plastic jewelry if I am having a c-section however if I am to deliver vaginally I need to remove my piercing so as not to scratch my LO on the way out.
Your doc will have the best guestimate for you~ but I think up until delivery day you would be ok.
The piercings will not affect your ability to breast feed. However, you will probably want to remove them because 1) you dont want to risk the baby choking on a ball (depending on the type of jewelry you use) and 2) it will probably be painful/uncomfortable if the baby were to grab/pull them.
I removed mine because I know it's painful when my baby neice and nephew accidentally pull one of my other piercings. Some people say it's uncomfortable/painful to breast feed at first and I didnt want to add in the feeling of an infant pulling on my piercings.
I have absolutely nothing against piercings, actually prefer them.
That being said, my nipples are SO sore, that reading this post makes me want to put a bag of frozen peas on my boobs. I can't even think about having them pierced right now.

LOL I have had them done for 5 years now...My son is 8...didn't plan on having anymore children, but I am am super excited! I don't want to lose my piercings, because they did hurt like heck to have done! I was told I can take them in and out to feed...they are just barbells...but just wondering if anyone else had this issue.
I had mine done for about 3 years before DS was born. I kept them in up until about 15 min before I started pushing. It didn't affect my breastfeeding at all. If anything, it gave it an extra 2 holes per nipple that the milk came out! LOL. Anyways, I didn't have a problem. I forgot to keep trying to put the jewelry back in and they closed up. I will get them redone after i'm done having kids, but no problems here! My cousin who had her baby 7 weeks ago didn't have a problem either!
I took mine out when I got my BFP. I had them in for 6 years. I just didn't want to run the risk of there being an issue with me breast feeding. I assumed with them in it would be a risk of choking and fear of it hurting even more than the breast feeding itself.
