Re: baby hates applesauce?

  • Are you making it yourself? How are you cooking the apple? I've read that baking it helps retain the best flavor (and it makes your house smell good!)

  • How many times have you tried giving it to him? With some foods you have to try 10-15 times before they will eat it.
  • Cinnamon is an idea to try.

  • Definitely try cinnamon.  That is the only way DS will eat applesauce.
  • Cinnamon, definitely.  If you like living on the edge, throw some brown sugar in there too.
  • maybe mix it in with something else that he likes.

  • It took us 20 times for her to start liking applesauce. We never tried the cinnamon.

Has he tried any other fruits he loves? If so, try a mix.

A didn't like the jarred applesauce but when I baked my own fuji apples, she couldn't get enough! LOL

  • Does he like other pureed fruits? Maybe it's the texture of applesauce. K likes the flavored ones a little better than regular applesauce- meaning she doesn't close her mouth and turn her face from it...but she's not really a fan of any food except yogurt.
  • mix in other fresh fruit or squash/sweet potatoes.  pears were a bigger hit than apples in the beginning.

It's Mod. Nothing but organically grown home baked apples pureed in the latest and greatest baby food blender will do for little Grant.

  • Gwen doesn't like plain applesauce. I normally mix it with apricots or carrots. Even then though I can't add a lot.
  • Mine doesn't particularly love it, but he'll eat it.  He prefers savory foods.
