i always wanted to look into this b/c i heard that Steve had a nervous breakdown and OD'd on drugs and his brother Joe ... took over. urban legends crack me up.

According to DS's 100th episode special, Steve went to college, and Joe took over (I don't know how they're related). BTW, Joe's real name is Donovan, unlike Steve who really was a Steve. FWIW, Steve always seemed creepy to me, like a sex offender. I prefer Joe (also b/c Joe at least changes his shirt occasionally).
