Questions about making my own babyfood

Hi Ladies,

I'm new to the solids thing and trying to make baby food.

How long is stuff good in the fridge for once cooked and pureed - like a squash or sweet potato? I guess prob the same as it would be for us adults, but I don't even know how long that is!

Also, if I freeze the food in 1 oz size portions in the ice cube trays, can I pop them out and store them in a plastic bag? Do I need to worry about BPA in the plastic bags? For some reason I am under the impression that BPA is only an issue in harder plastic, but I could so be wrong b/c I don't know much about it!

Thanks in advance!

Re: Questions about making my own babyfood

  • I would freeze everything and store in the freezer, not the fridge. ?I've popped all mine out and stored in labeled plastic bags. ?Never thought of BPA, but I don't think it's a concern.

I believe it's good in the fridge for a few days. ?Go to https://www.wholesomebabyfood.com for more info. ?It will tell you everything you need to know about storing and such.?

  • I put mine in the ice cube trays until they were hard enough to pop out.  Then we put them in plastic bags and labeled them, with the date made too.  I take out a few in the morning and leave them in the fridge so they are ready for lunch or supper.
