I believe that life begins at conception so I see abortion as murder.
So by that rationale, if you had an ectopic pregnancy, you would have your fallopian tube removed instead of terminating using methotrexate? Or whatever else the embryo had implanted on/in (ectopic just means out of place).
Really. This interest me. So when I was on the verge of dying (literally an HOUR from dying and then almost dying in surgery) because of the egg being implanted in my tube and they then removed the egg alas according to you-I had an abortion you feel that this is murder??? Wow.

Where do you stand on issues such as ectopic where the baby will NEVER survive, but neither will the mother, if the pregnancy isnt terminated? Are you saying suicide is the acceptable option?
An eptopic PG would never have survived and so no, I don't consider the removal of it an abortion. I don't see circumsisionas mutilation and don't see the correlation.
My major concern is that the #1 reason women in this country have abortions is as birth control.

Ectopic pregnancies can survive in certain circumstances. There was a UK woman on Discovery Health who had triplets, one was ectopic, and he lived.
So by your rationale, a baby who has no chance to live outside the womb is OK to terminate? If a baby is growing with no lungs or a 2 chambered heart, is it OK to terminate? (Yes, a baby can get a transplant but infant hearts are especially hard to come by, I have a friend who donated her 2 month olds to a 14 day old).

What is your position on destruction of unused embryos?

Those are exceptions and I'm not trying make a determination on every possible scenario surrounding abortions. It isn't an easy issue and we all have our reasons on where we stand. I wouldn't want any child that has a chance of living to die or mother to die because her PG was risking her life. But having abortions for convenience is disgusting to me.

Then don't have one for convenience. But be thankful that the option is out there for YOU if it comes down to your life or a fetus. And of course you will say "I wouldn't even do it if it came down to me losing my life"...if you were ever in that situation I hope you would choose what is best for your living child.

Which is their right, because they don't have to have the same opinion as you about when life begins.
However, I'd like to see the citations for your stats.
Also, the #1 reason that people have liver transplants? Failure due to cirrhosis, caused primarily by alcohol and drug abuse, and other risky behavior. We don't say "you made your bed" and let a patient die. The reason someone needs or chooses a medical procedure is not a valid reason to deny it.
I am pro-choice. But I feel like after the point of viability, there should be exceptional circumstances, like a fetal defect incompatible with life, or risk to the mother's health or life. You had 24 weeks to make your choice, dangit.
On the other hand, I am not comfortable with the government telling us what we can & can't do with our bodies. It's too slippery of a slope. And frankly, my feelings should not dictate what another woman can choose.
Oh, and while we're on the controversial topics, I think physician-assisted suicide bans for the terminally ill are a load of crap.

I feel the same way. Although there are people on here who insist late term abortions are only done for health reasons which just is not true.

Whether it's true or not, if a woman told me she was having an abortion past the point of viability just because she changed her mind, or was afraid of getting fat or something, I would judge her and be seething from head to toe. I would probably hate her forever. But I would also realize that I'm not her, and she has the right to make her own choice, as much as I might like to punch her.
Tell me, what is the difference between killing a child one day before they're born into the world... and killing them the day after their born into the world?
How is it some how more acceptable when the child is in the womb?

Up until that day, the child still meets the definition of a parasite, and has no body autonomy.
Not saying I agree with it, but that is one explanation I have seen.

The former can be done privately and quietly and you don't have to hear or know about it.

This has been the hardest question for me, as being pro-choice. To be honest, I do not see a difference, except that like PP said, they are not autonomic yet. It would make me sick to hear about someone aborting a baby that late into a pregnancy, unless it was certain that the mother or baby wouldn't survive. I simply don't believe in them that late. But I also don't believe I have the right to tell anyone else what to do.

The difference is one is a baby, the other is a fetus. One breathes and can obtain nutrition independently of the gestational agent, and the other does/can not.
What's the difference between 36 weeks, 6 days GA and 37 weeks GA? Do I think all reasons are justafiable for late term? No, not necessarily, but I would hate to say "Well, even though we saw this one thing at 20 weeks that we just wanted to keep an eye on turned out to be something so dreadful that the life of this baby will be excruciatingly painful and short, or probably won't make it through labor, well... that just sucks to be you, because you're 38 weeks and 4 days."
I would never ever ever campaign for a woman to lose her right to sovereignty over her body. You may think birth is a small distinction, but I think it's an important one.

I voted up until 20 weeks no special circumstances. BUT, abortion at ANY time before birth is acceptable to me if 1) the mother's life is in danger and/or 2) the child will have horrific defects.
Re: s/o Flammable abortion poll (clicky)
you know what? I needed a choice inbetween "pro life to viability" and "pro life to term"
I needed a choice that what "pro choice because it's none of my business."

do you also see circumcision as mutilation? I'm curious what else you feel very strongly about.

I am pro-life. I also believe conception is the beginning of the life.
I don't know much about ectopic pregnancy though. Is it a fertilized egg that is outside of the uterus? What is your position on destruction of unused embryos?

how, pray tell, do you know when conception occurs?
also, I feel that Pro life is semi offensive. What it is is anti choice.
I am very pro choice, but I celebrate life.
Man, I should have voted special snowflake.
