In place of our morning bottle (and because T is a CuddlyBug in the morning) we always look at a book before we get ready for the day. Today was "10 Little Ladybugs" and on one page the book reads "Along came a bird..." with a big red bird - T held up her hand and signed "bird"! I told her "Yes, that's right, bird!", making the sign myself, and she did it again and said "Bir! Baby!", hee. Yay T! I think I need to get out the Baby Signing Time DVDs more often!

Go T!
It so exciting to watch them "get" something. Yay for the smart girl!
awesome!! Did it freak you out? It kinda freaks me out that my baby is trying to be a communicating kid. LOL.
A little bit - she does really well with "more" and "eat" so those signs I'm used to, but when she does signs like this one it smacks it home that she IS becoming a smart little person and not just my baby anymore. Sad and happy/proud at the same time, you know?
You can get them on Amazon.com, just search for "Baby Signing Time" and they should pop up. T is at a Primrose School so they sign to them all the time; we started watching the DVDs together (every so often) around 9mos, I think? She likes them because they are brightly colored and have lots of kids in them, they show kids doing the signs themselves. Some of the signs from the DVD are different from what she's taught, but that's not a big deal.
Hey, until I opened iTunes and started Genious playing I had "If A Hippo Can Dance" stuck in my head. Hee:
If a hippo can dance it's an awesome revelation
If a hippo can swing it's a marvelous thing...
