I know everyone is different... BUT... how much weight had you gained by 19-20 weeks?? I am wondering if I am gaining too fast or just about average.

  • Ask your doctor. They'll know what's normal for you.
  • As long as your dr isnt concerned, you should be fine with whatever you have/havent gained.

  • I have gained 4 lbs so far. I'm a little behind 20 weeks though.

  • People around here hate weight posts...just a warning.

Anyway, I am 18 weeks and have gained 2 pounds.

  • 2 pounds.

  • Ideally you should gain 4-5lbs in the 1st tri and a pound a week in the 2nd tri.

I've gained about 16lbs and I'm almost at 20 weeks.  I gained more than the suggested amount in the 1st tri.  I was average weight to begin with.

  • 17 lbs and my doctor said I was all good...

    This.  Everyone is different.

  • I am at 18 weeks & so far I have gained 16 lbs!  I am concerned too.  I was very skinny at first & had no morning sickness.  I think being able to eat whatever I craved contributed to it.  But, I don't think I should have gained that much.  Are you concerned about how much you are gaining or how little?
  • 20! But my doctor isn't concerned so I'm not either....
  • if your 1000 lbs u shouldnt gain 1 pound,

if your thin, shouldnt u gain more the 1 pound?

  • 8 lbs.  I gained about 65 lbs with my DS so I feel very ahead of the game this time and definitely don't give in to every french fries and milkshake craving like last time.  My Dr has never said I'm gaining too much or not enough.....  Ask your doc!!!

Ugh...according to who exactly.  You don't know what her pre-existing weight or health condition is like.  Stop dispensing medical information if you're not her doctor.

  • I actually don't mind this question. I think people that do should just move on rather than being rude (not that anyone has been to you yet, but if it happens, don't be surprised).

I'm 19 weeks tomorrow and am up 10 pounds. I honestly gained 5 in the last 2 weeks though which scared me.

It's truly one of those things where people are all over the place - but I do think it's helpful (for me at least) to hear where other people are too. Sometimes it makes you feel a little better.

  • Ask your doc if it's healthy.

This. I gained 45lbs with my first. I will not go there again.

I have gained 12lbs and I'm at 20w. I'm not happy about it, but what can you do. My doctor won't tell me one way or another if I'm gaining too much. He is kind like that. I know I'm doing a lot better than last time around.

The American Pregnancy site says you should gain between 8-10lbs by 20w. This is a blanket statement and doesn't take into any specifics into account.

I know a lot of women say to ask your doctor. Doctors have different attitudes when it comes to weight. My last doctor was on the conservative side when it came to weight gain. He was older and his concern was having an unhappy new mother because she gained too much weight. They vary.

It also depends on how big or thin you were to begin with. I was 5'1" and 104lb which is a couple pounds higher than I normally was before getting pregnant.

  • No one wants to be reminded of their weight gain thank you very much. Will you people ever learn?? Weight posts get flamed everytime!
  • I've gained 22 - 23 at 18 weeks - Im sure by 19 I'll be at 24-25.  Ask your doctor if you're gaining enough/too much, not us.  My doc said I was fine but I'm guessing not everyone can throw on as much and be healthy.

  • I don't mind the weight posts.  ::shrugs::  If "weight gain" is in the title and it bothers you then why even open the post?  Obviously, I know I should speak with my doctor regarding healthy weight gain but I also like to hear how others are doing at the same point in their pregnancy.

Anyway, I am almost 18 weeks and I have gained about 9 lbs so far.

  • I was overweight to start with, I've gained 2 or 3 pounds so far. I am hoping to keep my weight gain to 20lbs max, which is in line with recommendations from the Mayo Clinic (https://www.mayoclinic.com/health/pregnancy-weight-gain/PR00111) for someone who is overweight. I'm not going to stress out about it too much though :)

  • well i still have two weeks to go but i've gained 9 so far
  • I'm sorry, BUT, if you are that sensitive about gaining weight, dont get pregnant!! It comes with the territory ladies. Just enjoy it and work your a$$ of in the gym to loose it afterwards. I gained 75lbs with my first...i won't do that with my second because that was too many hours in the gym! LOL! But i think the girl asked a completely innocent question, and if you want to be rude go somewhere else. Most of us are happy mommies just wanting to bond and share stories with other happy mommies...not get blasted for asking innocent questions.

  • At almost 19 weeks, 18w6d, I had gained 3lbs.

To the haters...why do you guys open posts that have weight in the title in the first place?  You knew when you opened it what the content was and yet you still open it, read it and take the time to post that the question shouldn't have been asked.  Why not just skip right over it to begin with?

I say ask as many questions on this board as you feel like it, no matter what the content is.

  • At 19 weeks, +4 pounds.

  • At my drs. appointment at 22w3days I was at a total weight gain of 16lbs.  I asked the nurse what she thought and she said it was fine, not to worry, my dr. on the other hand said I needed to watch how much I was eating Sad Even though I eat very healthy (not lying) AND work out on the elliptical 5 days a week.  He said I could increase my work outs to avoid a bigger than average baby, so we'll see.......I'm hoping I only gain a couple of pounds or so by my next appointment.

    ?Well said.?

?I am 19w and have gained 8 or 9 lbs.?

  • It totally depends on where your weight was before you got pregnant. It might be a good idea to check you BMI from before you got pregnant:)

  • I don't know whats normal but your dr. should certainly be able to tell you and should tell you if you are gaining too much, too quickly.

I had my check up yesterday and was up a total of 5 lbs (15 weeks).
