gassiness and overstimulation?

my son is UBER gassy. i've cut out everything except the plainest of foods and caffeine, etc (i breastfeed). my son does gulp at the breast and i'm working hard to resolve this.

however, i currently have the whole of my husband's family staying with us, and i've been told that overstimulation (noise, passing baby around, etc) can make gassiness/fussiness worse. it's gotten so bad that he (and we) barely sleep at all.

is there truth in this overstimulation stuff?

Re: gassiness and overstimulation?

  • def is for us. i left the house with ds for an hour yesterday and when i got home he fussed/screamed for 4 hours. i think some babies are more high strung. my sister was like that too!

  • Yes it definitely can.  It's honestly probably more that and just general newborn fussiness than your diet anyway. A lot of babies are gassy/fussy the first 6 weeks or so as they adjust to 'real life'.  But sensitive babies will definitely react to overstimulation, noise, etc.
