2nd Trimester

VENT..

So my SIL's kid has pink eye, and stayed at our house the other night..Not a big deal..He didnt know and I am not upset about that..I would know by now if I had it anyways..She called to tell us he had it and I went home and disinfected my place...HOWEVER.. He wanted to go to a ball game tonight with my DH and she said yes..well I told my DH that we are suposed to go away next week..and if I get pink eye..I cant go because we are going with 5 other adults and 4 kids..So I told him he would have to tell his sister that the kid could go to the next game with him.. Well my SIL is mad because her kid is gonna be upset..

I dont want to be responsible for brining a kid to a ball game and giving another kid or adult pink eye..  Maybe this is just me but IMO  I would NOT bring my kid out in public if they had pink eye..kids are always touching their eyes, and thats how things spread!  Just thougth I would ask all of your opinions to see if I am just hormonal or if I do have a valid reason to be ticked off this morning..

Re: VENT..

  • ummm Pink eye is something that you have to have a Dr. release to go back to school or work... You definitely have a legitament reason to be ticked! I hate it when parents try to send their kids to school with Pink eye... DRIVES ME CRAZY! and then they get upset when we call and say they have to pick them up.  ugh..  some people are ignorant

  • Wow I'm pissed on behalf of all the people at the game that would come in contact with the pink eye- let alone you and your DH.
  • I think your concern is legit.  There is nothing I dislike more than people taking their kids out in public when they are ill.  I was sick so much this winter because people would send their sick kids to preschool and I'd always get whatever they had!

hahaha like making him wear glasses is going to keep him from touching his eyes.... thats funny. If their eyes itch they move the glasses just like an adult would!

  • If the kid is on antibiotics for 24 hours, he's not contagious anymore.  He may not look better, but once those drugs get going, he should be all set.

  • Do they give antibiotics for pink eye? ?I thought it was just some kind of eye drops. (I could be wrong though.....)

And yep I deal with the same thing with parents sending the kids to school sick. I give the "Cover your nose" or "cover your mouth" lecture a million times and it drives me nuts. ?The problem is - and I HATE to say this - is that A LOT of parents use school as a babysitting service. ?It's that simple, and it sucks, and yes, I've seen them flip out when we've called home for the parent to come get the child.?

  • I wouldn't take my kid out to spread it to everyone else. It sucks that he has it but he doesn't need to share.
