Anyone use a drawstring wetbag? I'm afraid to sew zippers.

Just curious if anyone uses a drawstring wetbag on a frequent or daily basis and how you like it.  I know I have the skills to sew one with a drawstring.  Zippers...me no likey.  Well, I say that because I've never put one in.  I'm s-s-s-s-cared!

  • I made a great big one for when we go oot to the inlaws and I use it occasionally in our pail as well. It works great - even when it's just hanging on the door at the inlaws, I don't notice any smell at all until I open it up.

This is good to hear.  I actually have some big ones I purchased for pail liners too, but I wanted to make myself another smaller wetbag to used for daytrips and I was wondering if I'd hate myself for doing a drawstring one.

  • Don't be afraid!!  Zippers are easy-peasy.  Just take your time, use your zipper foot, and you'll be fine!

  • I have a smaller one I use occasionally and it's fine. I still prefer zippers, but it's fine. I'm not sure how well it would hold in any smell though, since I don't use it very much.
  • I know that you don't like sewing zippers, but my mother taught me a great tecnique using plain scotch tape to hold the fabric in place over the zipper  and sewing over the tape.  The tape just tears off and the results are beautiful.
  • I have a small Bummis bag with a drawstring. It works fine. I prefer my zippered bags only because the opening on the Bummis bag is super narrow.

  • Yes, I never got around to ordering anythi8ng but drawstring wetbags. I thought I'd prefer (or need) one with a zipper, but the ones I have work just fine. No issues or messes, and I don't have stink issues either.
  • I have a small one that's good for one or two diapers - but I don't like to carry it around all day.  I have a larger, zippered bag for a full day.
