Re: *~*Sept Siren Wed Check In*~*

  • Good morning ladies!  I am having a scheduled c-section and I am taking off a week before it.  Rylie will go to daycare and I will sit around and do nothing for a week.  Big Smile

  • I am working up until I have our little girl. . ..my job involves sitting a lot so I guess I would be sitting at home or sitting at work. . .  .I am saving my sick days for the time off!

  • QOTD: Are you going to work until your due date/until Dr tells you to stop?  Or are you taking off earlier? My leave starts the 21st and I'm due the 25th so we'll see. I hope I have a couple days to get some R&R before this baby comes!
  • I'm still planning to, but my boss is flexible, so we'll see!
  • QOTD: Are you going to work until your due date/until Dr tells you to stop?  Or are you taking off earlier?

Who knows? I'm working a six-week summer school program which ends August 14th then we all have a two week break before September 1st orientation, kids return Sept 2nd.  I'm due on the 9th, which is after the Labor Day weekend.  I have been saying I would try to come in for that first week of September, but personally I am totally done with work, even right now in week 1 of summer school. I'm. Just. Done.  The only motivation for coming in to work this summer is I get paid if I come in. In September, I can use my sick days, but I do want to save them.  So, it really is up in the air.  It depends on my health (bad back) and how soon baby wants to come out.

  • I am going to work as long as I can. I don't have enough sick/vacation time saved up for my entire leave as it is, so I would just as soon wait.
  • I can't decide what to do!! I just have this feeling if I take off a week early he'll be 2 weeks late then I will lose all of that pay! I sit alot at work and they have been very kind to me...so I might stay until the Fri before my EDD and hope for the best.
  • My plan is to work right up until the little guy decides to make his appearance. I am using sick/vaca time rather than STD so I get a full paycheck each week. I want to stretch that time out as long as I can!
  • I am stopping work at 36 wks.
  • I am really lucky about work because I am a teacher and currently off for the summer.  I am due Sept 1st and students start back on the 8th so I am hoping to make it through the first two teacher days and then have the baby anytime after that.  I feel like I am the only person actually hoping to go a few days late rather than early, but I am happy with how the timing should work out.

  • I am working until four days until my EDD. Boo.
  • QOTD: Are you going to work until your due date/until Dr tells you to stop?  Or are you taking off earlier?

Like some pp said, I'm working until the moment I can't.   I teach school, and I would hate to begin the school year with my students starting with some long term sub.   It might might be sooner rather than later because I've developed some issues with this pregnancy and they might have to take her early.   I'm keeping my fingers crossed for full term though!

  • QOTD: Are you going to work until your due date/until Dr tells you to stop? Or are you taking off earlier?

My plan is to work right up until my due date or shortly after if no progress has been made. I want/need to save all of my days for my FMLA leave.  Otherwise, any time take before LO gets here will be unpaid.

  • Yesterday I put in my VACATION!! from August 17th till September 8th..I am then taking September 8th on for mat leave!!! YEah ...so no Im not statying till the end...Leaving at 37 weeks...and sooo deserve it!

But of course it's a little different as Im in Canada and we get a year...I think more ladies would go earlier in the US - if you got the same option...which is sooo unfair for you gals :(

QOTD: I had originally wanted to work til my due date but I'm having second thoughts. My due date is on a Monday so I may stop working the Friday before.

I'm an assistant preschool teacher, so my job involves a LOT of running around.  I've had to cut down to two days a week this summer during the daycare/camp, and I'll be done the week before school starts up again, when I'm at 37 weeks (I'm going to be a SAHM, yay!)

  • I work from home/ for myself so I will be working right up to delivery I am sure - but from the sofa (or bed!) with the AC blasting. :)
  • QOTD:  I'm technically taking off earlier since teachers go back to work Aug. 27th..and I'm not due until September 18th.  I took the entire year off so that changes things a little bit.  I'm looking forward to having a few weeks at home with my DD before baby #2 arrives.
  • My due date is Sept. 9th, and I'm quitting work on the 29th of August.  I'm on my feet all day...10 hours mostly and I have a feeling by the time I'm that big, I won't be wanting to stand up at all. haha!

  • Like some pp, I also teach.  I am planning on working professional development week in August and hopefully 1-2 weeks w/ the kids; my due date is a Sunday, so I'll just have to wait and see.  I am relieved they already hired my long term sub and she and I have been communicating already.
  • I plan on working until a week before my due date. Hopeully the baby does not decide to come early.
  • Morning ladies!

I planned on working right up until shes ready to come. I have 2 jobs so i will be stopping the one mid august. its light work so its nothing too serious. But since my main job insurance and benefit changes i cant afford to take anymore time off if needed. So as it stands im working up until my date or when she comes.. and then a few wks off and its back to work

They are still trying to determind if im "grandfathered" in scince theres only 10 wks left for me.. but i highly doubt it.. these new changes suck and are the worst although i am glad that i do have benefits-- these new ones just really screwed me over with our company being bought out..

    ok mini vent over lol

  • I will be working until I have to stop.  With my first child I had a scheduled induction so I took the day before I went in off just to relax and pack my bag.
  • I have a desk job and I also don't get paid vacation or maternity so I am planning to work right up to the day unless I can't take it anymore.
  • QOTD: Are you going to work until your due date/until Dr tells you to stop?  Or are you taking off earlier?

I am planning on working until my due date or until the docs tell me to stop.

  • I am actually currently looking for a job as of 5/21.  I had lots of leads and interviews, but it looks like for now, I am done until after the baby.

  • I am ready to leave now and I am only 28 weeks! This pregnancy has been hard for me and I am ready for some rest, but I am trying to decide how many weeeks we can live on 60% pay and decide when I can leave. I get 13 weeks of short term disability and as tempting as it is to want to use a big chunk before the baby comes, I would hate to have regrets after the baby is born and I have to go back to work.

I wish my doctor would give me a timeline just so I don't have to figure it out.

  • I will be taking off about a month before my due date. It will give me a chance to get everything in order in our house and get as rested as possible before the big event.
  • I am a SAHM, but if you consider getting the babies room ready working, I will probably be doing so until my c-section...

This.  Plus I think I would go crazy just sitting aroung waiting to go into labor.

  • Unfort. I'll be working till my due date so I can save as much time as possible for after the baby. With DD, I worked a full day Tuesday, told everyone I was having my baby the next day and I did! lol, hopefully it works that smoothly this time! I did take some half days at the end last time, so I would do that again if necessary.

    Happy Hump Day!!

QOTD:  Well, my original plan was to work up until I went into labor (or the Dr. told me no more) however I found out a couple of weeks ago that I am being laid off effective July 24 (along with the rest of my department).  There is a possiblity that there is another position I could move into here, but my boss has to work out the financing, so keep your fingers crossed!  If that doesn't work out, I'll be trying to get some temp work through my recruiter until my little boy decides to make his debut.

  • QOTD: Are you going to work until your due date/until Dr tells you to stop?  Or are you taking off earlier?

I'm leaving one job about 3 weeks before my EDD.  The other is at a hospital, so unless my doctor advises that I stop working earlier, I plan to work up to the end.  What's the worst that can happen?  Delivery at the wrong hospital?  Stick out tongue  Also, my family lives in the town where I work, so I figure they could drive me home to meet up with DH and get to the hospital where we plan to deliver.

Edit: Also, I'm a contract employee.  No work = no pay.

  • My leave benefits do not kick in until the day I deliver so needless to say I will be working up until that moment. Not so bad though because my boss is allowing me to work from home M, W, F when I hit 36 weeks. Pretty good compromise plus 11 weeks off paid. No complaints here Big Smile
  • Good luck! Sending good job vibes your way!
  • QOTD: Are you going to work until your due date/until Dr tells you to stop?  Or are you taking off earlier?

I am due sept 2nd, and am working until the end of this month (july).  i am a nanny of two boys under the age of three, and they keep me very busy.  i figure i could use a month off before Ruby comes to get everything in order, although i have a sneaking suspicion that she is coming early.......

  • I plan on working up until I go into labor.  I want to save as much time as possible for after LO is born.

Also, could you update my age please?  I am now 33.  Ughh.  My EDD is 9/3.  Thank you!

  • I am planning on working until the day I deliver. This is our first and we want all the time with baby as possible!
  • QOTD: Are you going to work until your due date/until Dr tells you to stop?  Or are you taking off earlier?

Well I work at home taking care of my son so no I will not be taking off work early!  It would be nice though so that I could finish some things up.

  • QOTD: Are you going to work until your due date/until Dr tells you to stop?  Or are you taking off earlier?

I'll probably work up till the week before my due date so long as I continue to feel good.
