F/U to hurting boob...what to do overnight?

So if this is a blocked duct, which I'm not sure if it is b/c when I've had those I could feel a small marble sized lump, this is more like a large area that seems harder and sensitive.  But either way, I'm sure it is going to hurt like hell after not feeding anyone for 7 hours overnight.  :(  So what do I do...get up and pump an extra time overnight or what?  They finished eating at 10:30 and will probably wake up at 5:30.  My breasts have been pretty engorged in the mornings, and this morning was when my right breast started to really hurt.  I don't know what to do, and I'm scared of how much this is going to hurt tomorrow morning if I leave it go all night long.  But if I pump an extra time will that just signal my body to produce even more milk and it will be even worse?  Tongue Tied

  • How was your night?  Sorry for the late response, but I would probably pump to relieve the pressure in your case.  Can you call your doctor today if you aren't feeling better?

  • If you are clogged, I have heard that you should get on the bed on your hands and knees with your LO below you.  Then lower down so your breast is in reach for LO to eat from.  This can help clear things up.

Also, soak in a hot bath.  My milk seems to release on it's own when I'm in the tub.  I also use cream to help with some of the tenderness.

  • I use a heating pad on low overnight.  I put it on and take it off a few times.  Then in the morning I start feeding from that side and more often then not ds clears it up for me.
