I can't address the price since I was house-sitting when I slept on one, but it was for 2 years. And it was the best sleep of my life! DH and I plan to buy one once we have space to upgrade to a king size bed.

My ex-roommate and her husband were Sleep Number sales people and they swear up and down by them but then they were sales people it was their job to say that.
Annette-It depends on the model. The bare basic is $1,000, and they go up to $4500 (for a queen). I'm thinking we'd probably get the middle of the road one for $2,500 (queen, $3200 King).

Wow I knew there were expensive but I had no idea they would run 3000 for a king bed. A friend of mine said her brother worked at a store that was going out of buisness and they were selling them for about 1/2 off but it was a while ago. Maybe you could find some kind of sale like that?

I have one. Dont know how I ever slept before without it!
FYI - get on thier mailing list. they have factory sales every now and then. we got ours for less than half the price of the ones in the showrooms by ordering it direct.

My DH had one when we got together. I didn't really like it but he did. He thought it was worth the money enough to save it instead of getting rid of it when we switched beds. It sits in storage right now. I'm not sure when he thinks he's going to be using it again.
Also known as *BreeBree13* Stupid bump keeps logging me in under my old name!
It was a splurge but well worth it for us. It completely eliminated all of DH's back pain in a couple of nights, and he's been pain free ever since. We got the middle of the road option - the deluxe one didn't seem worth it, since we already had a memory foam topper that we just kept from our old bed.
We also saved by keeping our old boxspring, which was still in good shape.
The only thing that bugs me is I like a firm bed, DH likes super soft, so when he gets out of bed his side is lower than mine. It means I can't sleep in the middle of the bed when I'm alone anymore and sometimes cuddling is a little difficult unless one of us goes to the others' side...or we just inflate his side up to make them even
