What temp. do you keep your house?

I keep mine at 78 for LO but he seems to be sweaty all the time even when he isn't swaddled. Is this to hot for him? I have been keeping him in a onesie during the day and just swaddling him at night but he seems to sleep better with just the onesie but I don't want him to get sick!

  • 78? holy crap I would die in your house!

We keep the a/c on 70 or 71

  • a lot of people overdress babies. they really only need to be in one layer more than what you are comfortable in. We keep our house at 75 and we even have him in just his diaper during the day and then a onesie plus a swaddle at night.
  • DH and I have always liked it cold.

During the day, the house is set at 70.  At night, anywhere from 65-68.

DS sleeps in a footed L/S sleeper, swaddled. We just recently changed this from a onesie while swaddled.

  • I would melt. Ours is around 73 but we keep fans on in every room too.

I remember reading somewhere not to get babies too warm as that can be a SIDS risk. I'd stop swaddling, especially if he seems sweaty.

  • We keep it at 76 most of the time.  We will sometimes bump it down a degree or two.  Fans are always on, as well.

  • 78 is actually comfortable for DH and I because we have ceiling fans and everything + the power bill would be $600 if we put the air on 70 but I think I might put it on 75 today and see if he is still sweaty.
  • Wow, I would die at 78.  We keep ours at about 69 or 70 and DS seems comfortable; we swaddle him at night and when we take him out of the PNP he still feels hot.  When I took a child care class, they told us that babies are most comfortable at "room temperature", which they defined as 68-72.
  • We keep ours around 78/77

  • We keep ours at 78 at night and 80 during the day. We have the fans on and keep him in a onesie and swaddled in a light blanket. He seems fine.

76, but 72-4 when the hubby is home, he is always hot
  • I think 78 is really warm. ?I would be worried about it being a SIDS risk if it is 78 even at night.?

Same.  If the boys feel cool - I put socks on them or a blanket.

  • We keep ours at 70 because the upstairs gets so hot. If we keep it any higher it's sweltering up there.
  • 74 during the day when we're home and down to 69 at night because our bedrooms get SO hot!

  • We keep our house at 78 during the day (when no one is home).  Then it's at 74-75 in the evening and down to 72-73 at night.
