1st Trimester

For those who are beginning to shop for maternity clothes

IMO this is the best shirt you can buy.  I bought mine when I was in the 1st tri (around 8 weeks) and they still fit great.  I have 6 of them and they are still growing with me.  They have a long sleeve style as well for those of you who will be pregnant in the winter...which actually may be all of you.  Right now Motherhood Maternity has them on sale.

  • Thank you! Are you wearing a black one in your sig. picture? It's really cute

I tried one of those on at the store and it was soooooo long... it came down almost to my knees at 11 wks pg! And that was the S/P. I guess I'm just too short to shop at Motherhood.

haha yes.  I didn't even realize that.  I seriously only have like 2 shirts (other than the 6 I have in this style) that still fit me.

Really?  I'm only 5'2.  You can get them pretty fitted since they do stretch.  Obviously they look better once you have a bump.

Hm, I'm the same height. I don't know, it was just super long on me - maybe I have a freakishly short torso. ;)

  • I think im going to have to look into this.. A friend brought me over 3 trash bags of clothes. so im excited to go through them :)
  • Agreed! I have them in 4 colors and just rotate them. They are comfortable and stretch! I've also had mine since 1st tri!
  • I am 5'2" and a half, c cup, and wear about a size 6 jeans... any recommendations about what size I should get?  Med or Small? Sorry if it is TMI!
  • I have four that I wore constantly with my first pgcy.  Do try them one thought because I had one of the four that fit a little differently and ended up not stretching as well.  MM's clothes aren't the highest quality so often they sizes/quality can vary from garment to garment.

FFIW, I wore the heck out of the nursing bras from there too so when you end up needing larger bras you may want to try them out if you plan on nursing anyway you could get a lot of use out of them.

I am exactly your size except my stupid boobs have grown to a DD.

I bought a medium.  At first I thought they seemed a little big, but by like 13 weeks they fit great and still do.

  • Adding to the topic... I bought these Isabella Oliver pants in early 2nd tri with my first PG. I wore them 2-3 times a week for work and they lasted until week 40 when nothing else did.  I would wash them on gentle and hang them to dry and they would be dry in the morning.

  • how do they fit. Do they run small or large? I am debating between small and medium. Probably medium....can always grow into it.
  • Agreed!!! I wore the long sleeved one's all winter when I was pregnant with DS they're great! I have them in almost every color:)
  • Thank you for the really great tip. I will be sure to go check it out! Is there a style name or is it just the t shirts that look like this

The ones I have are from Motherhood.  I know someone said they have them at Walmart for less money, but I'm not sure how they fit compared to these.

  • I agree. I have both the kind in the picture, and the sleeveless kind (a bit different, but basically the same) and I adore them.

Actually, in my signature picture I'm wearing that exact shirt. Stick out tongue

  • I also have this in a tank and it's the shirt I wear the most. Grows with you and oh so comfy!!
  • I have about 10 of these from my first pregnancy.  The ruching just gives it a little extra so it's not just a boring tee.  They also come in a long sleeved version, at least they did (almost) 2 years ago!
