Detroit Babies

baby boy name

I am due in three weeks and we still do not have a name. My DH won't even talk about it and doesn't understand why am I so stressed about it...ummm..because we have a baby boy coming really soon and we will have to name him something.

Whatever I suggest he doesn't like and the only name that he likes is Max. I like that name too, but I know so many people who named their dog Max.

Other possibilities that I have suggested: Daniel, Mario, Allen.

We have a slavic last name, ending -ich and we do not have middle name. Why is it so hard to find a name?

Does anyone like any of the above names? Any suggestions?

Re: baby boy name

  • Boy names are so hard to pick out!!  When DH and I were trying to decide on DS's name, we decided to go through the entire baby name book and just pick out the names we liked and then decide from that list.  The first time through we had zero names on the list.  Now give me girl names and there's a huge list.

Max is cute and I don't associate it with a dog at all.  It seems like it's becoming a little more popular too.  I've seen a few people on the nest with a Max.

  • Tell you DH that he can't leave the hospital without him having a name and that you need to have options when you go there!

Max is ok.  I don't associate it with dogs either but it wouldn't be my first choice.

    GL!

  • I like Max :-)

If your DH wants to be that way you could always look at it this way... YOU get to pick the name!

  • I have to say boy names were MUCH easier for us to pick out than girl names (we didn't find out what we were having). I have to say that out of all the names I like Daniel the best, but I think if you like Max go with Max. Friends of ours named their son Max.

  • I like Max too and if it makes you feel any better, don't know a single dog with that name!!  Good luck.
  • My fave on the list is Daniel, but what counts is what you love! Big Smile Maybe if you narrowed it down to a couple (2) names when you go to L&D, perhaps you could pick the better of the two when you meet him.
  • I like the name Max (doesn't remind me of a dog at all!).  My grandpa, dad, cousin, and a multitude of other male relatives are all named Mario - so I feel like it's really common. What about Max Daniel or Daniel Max?

  • Thanks ladies!

We have a name, yay! It will be Max, now I am ready for him to come:-)

  • Names have come pretty easy for DH and I and we have a book with a list of names, first and middle for both boys and girls, that we plan on choosing from with each baby. When we find a new name we both like it goes into the book. We have way more then we'll ever need, but it gives us options that we know we both like, and when we meet LO we'll pick the one we feel's suits them best.

    On our boy list is:

    Dean

    Logan

    Cole

    Noah

    Simon

    Luke

    Toby

    Eli

    Connor

    Bryce

    Gabriel

  • Max is cute, but super popular.  It's not a name I, personally, would choose.  Can you use Max - or a form of Max - as the middle name?

It's hard to give suggestions without knowing your taste...if you like traditional:  Christopher, Nicholas, David, Alexander; if you like trendy: Aiden, Ethan, Logan, Jackson
