Perfect bug spray for pregnant women

I've been looking a lot online for a bug spray and I found the perfect one. Burt's Bees makes an herbal insect repellent. So it's safe for pregnant women and you children (if this is a repeat pregnancy) Big Smile Here's the link:

  • Skin So Soft from avon is also a good alternative. My mom was an avon rep years ago and it's pretty much all I've used...

  • I'm gonna have to check both out. We've been looking around for a good spray other than all the stuff with DEET... Lord knows we need it here in MN!!!

  • Just weighing in on this real fast... I bought the OFF clip-on today and wore it while we were out watching fireworks... and everyone was complaining about the mosquitos but me!!  They all were asking me where they could find some bug spray, and I wasn't bitten at all.  :)

My mom bought me the clip-on for me to try over the holiday weekend and my DH went on the computer and did some research. There is some pretty horrible chemicals in the clip-on and he made me get away from it ASAP.

He also read that you shouldn't use one down wind of any food.. and that goes for anybody. You don't want it on your food. So I would think twice before using it again!

  • Hmm, I used the Off clip-on too and it worked great - but now I don't think I'll be using it again!

I tried the Burt's Bees stuff when I was pg last time and it didn't work at all and it was really oily. ?But mosquitos and gnats love, love, love me.

My dr said it was okay to use DEET in small amounts - you just want to use the stuff with lower amounts, like the ones for kids or families and re-apply it more often. ?Of course, it would be best to avoid it - but you also don't want a pg woman catching West Nile virus either.?
