Yesterday we were talking about finances. He ran numbers all morning. (We have 3 small restaurants w/ partners and this economy is killing us plus we are fighting the mega developer from h*ll so the lawyers bills and constant threat of eviction are a nightmare - Lifetime made for tv movie to come...)
Anyways, after a morning of crunching numbers DH comes in and is sitting on the couch and smiles. I ask what he is thinking. He explains that if we can make it through the summer and next winter and the economy starts to come back, in 3 years we will be making ##### a year and we'll be ok. When DD is older she'll just think we're doing great and I'll tell her "were're doing great now but when you were born your mom and I were in a financial crisis that you wouldn't believe..."
It was nice to think of it that way and to see a little light at the end of the tunnel. It puts things in perspective. I thought the fact that he was thinking about how he would explain our current situation to our daughter was cute.
Re: DH practices "When you were born..." speech!
My god-mother always said "There is never a "good" time to have a baby" but I think we have taken that one to an extreme. He he he.
We also lost a lot on our investments. We have a lot invested in real estate and that is all under water. We had a bid on a nice house last November and our down payment was our stocks. It was supposed to finalize the week the market crashed. Poof. Gone.
