Alimentum

My DD has been having issues with gas, and fussiness. Our Pedi recommended to change to soy, so we did and it made DD really constipated.  So I called and asked them what to do and they told me to give her 1/2 ounce of water.  Well that hasn't helped at all either so I called this morning and they told me to switch her to Simliac Alimentum.  Has anyone had luck on this formula??

  • I've read that some people have had good luck with it so you'll probably get some positive responses. We had some free samples we decided to try b/c D had terrible allergies. It didn't agree with DD - she was gassy, fussy, constipated, and spitting up copious amounts of digesta. All of that stopped when we stopped the alimentum.

  • I BF and my LO is milk and soy protein intolerant. We have Alimentum at the house, in case we every need to use formula. We tried giving small amounts(1oz with 3oz of BM) and Owen would only take a little at the time. It has a really bad smell and taste! Lastnight I wasn't sure if my LO would take a bottle and I didn't want to waste BM, so I gave him the Alimentum. He actually ate a 3oz bottle while he was sleeping and I was amazed. This morning his bowel movement had mucos in it. I'm not sure if his system just wasn't used to it or what. We are suppose to try it again and see if the same thing happens.

I will agree that it is very expensive. nutramigen is along the same lines and is slightly cheaper, but Owen screamed every time the bottle went near his face with that. If either of them work for you, there are many sellers on ebay that have sealed cases for sale much cheaper. That is just an option if you feel comfortable with it. Good luck, I hope it helps!

  • Our LO is soy intolerant as well as Similac Advance made him gassy. We stated Similac Sensitive this morning and if that doesn't work we may try Enfamil Gentlelease before trying Alimentum. Its a lot of money so we're trying another option or two first.
