why does he 'fight' all the time now?! HELP ME!

My DS always always fights me when I am putting him down for naps for bedtime now!! He acts like he cant get comfortable in my arms in any way.  I used to rock him in his glider but a couple weeks ago he would start to get pissed if I rocked him so I had to 'walk' or dance with him and he would go down in like 5 minutes.  Now it takes a half hour at the minimum and most of that he is really mad and so squirmy I feel like I could drop him if I wasnt careful!! Its not gas, he is defintely tired, but not overtired, we are on the same achedule of two hours up and then a nap as always... I dont get it. Why does he act so uncomfortable when I hold him? He kicks and squirms and nuzzles like a maniac! 

I have tried putting him down drowsy but awake and it worked like, once, never again though :(

    My DS does this just before he's about to fall asleep, so we just let him squirm and cry and nuzzle while we're holding him and within a few minutes he falls asleep.  I think it's his way of getting out a little extra energy before he falls asleep.  I don't know if that'll help you or not, though!

    i have found that either letting him squirm in my arms, or putting him in the crib and letting him squirm or cry for a few minutes, and then rocking or patting him does the trick and he'll fall asleep....

    DD never did this for as long as your LO, but she used to start screaming as soon as we'd sit in the rocker and fight it hard for 5-10 minutes before conking out.  It often made me tempted to put her in her crib and try CIO b/c she was just crying in my arms anyway.  We finally found a paci she would take around 4.5 months, and that has made all the difference.  I pop it in when we settle down and she nestles right into my neck.  I was reluctant to start using a paci so late, but it has made nap time so much more pleasant for everyone.
