How fast do kids go through shoes?

Kennedy has mostly been wearing socks but I wanted to find her some simple white infant shoes to wear when we go out or get dressed up.

I finally found some at Belk today and got a size 1, which is 0-3 months. I put them on her and quickly realized they were too small. So, I went back and got a size 2, which is supposed to be 3-6 months. Her toes are very close to the end... and she is 10 weeks old.

How fast do kids feet usually grow?

I'm wondering if I should just skip all shoes until she gets old enough to walk. Ha. At this rate she's going to be in toddler shoes by then. (At birth her feet were too big for the hospital birth certificate and they had to "stamp" them on sideways. Then again, I wear a size 12 in women's shoes so it's not that much of a surprise.)

  • I think it just depends on the baby.  Avery has TINY feet and is still wearing 0-6 month pedipeds (with room to spare)

  • Oh... that reminds me. A friend gave Kennedy some pedi peds the other day and I'm so excited about them. They are houndstooth material, perfect for football season.

I thought about the girls on this board when I got them since yall rave about pedipeds so much!

those sound adorable!!!  I bet I could justify those to Robert :) hehe.  Avery doesnt' have too many shoes - just a pair of brown pedipeds, pink sneakers and white stride rite sandals (size 2 that are way too big on her).

  • the lady at Stride Rite this weekend said on average 1/2 size every 3 months.  We didn't bother with shoes for Kenley when she was that little last summer...just too hot and she didn't really need them.

Ok I know Kenley has a few months on Avery but I feel like she has monster feet after reading that...she's already in a 5!!!  (but I have big feet too...I"m a 10)

  • We love shoes at our house! When Ella Grace was really little we had a pair of Stride Rites and Pedipeds that she really only wore for special occasions. We have tons now though :) It seems just about everywhere we have been they say you should have about a thumb's width of room at the toe of the shoe. With the thumb's width at the end they should last about 3 months and then she'll need to be remeasured.
  • I have actually been really surprised about DS not going through shoes as fast as I thought he would. He has been wearing 5's for at least 4 mos. now. I did get him pair of 5.5 shoes the other day b/c the 5's in that style were too small, and I got him a size 6 pair of Ralph Lauren navy tennis shoes for the fall. They are soooo cute! Our Belk in Auburn doesn't have kids' shoes but the one in Dothan does, and they always have the BEST sales on them! I got a pair of Stride Rite sandals for $8, and the Ralph Lauren shoes for $10. Also, Kinnucan's has good sales sometimes. I got the cutest pair of the classic New Balance tennis shoe for DS for $10, and they are usually $35-$40.
  • I didn't really even mess with shoes until Jenna started walking - I was just obsessed with cute socks (which are way cheaper than the shoes!)  Anyway, she is a little peanut and still in tiny shoes (she 15 months, but in 6-12 or 9-12 month shoes and they are big), so I'm glad I didn't buy anything too far in advance.  But it's hard to resist!!!
