Bring a few movies. After you get an epi, you can't move, so it was nice to have that. Also, I brought sweat pants, tanks and a robe that I used. I didn't want all of my hospital pictures to be in the gross gown they provided.
Camera, cell phone charger and baby book for sure. Something for DH to do and maybe a few snacks. That's really all I used.
NOTHING that I brought. I didnt have the energy to dry or straighten my hair (like I somehow assumed I would) I didnt need pj's til pp bc they make you wear only a hospital gown.. I got sent in for an induction which lasted 2 days and then 2 days pp.. My mom went and got me grocerys (snacks and drinks) and I was so grateful for them.. Honestly, take some clothes and shower stuff and thats it.
I packed way more than I needed. I really appreciated having my boppy pillow. (Actually I hadn't packed this but DH brought it for me)
I also had my sister bring me a robe. I was most comfortable in the hospital gown but it was nice to have a robe to throw over when people would visit.
We had our electronics and chargers. (phone, camera, laptop)
Otherwise, I used my shower supplies and going home clothes and thats about it.
socks (i was so glad i brought several pairs of socks -- i wore them for the delivery too), toiletries, nursing tanks, sweat pant outfit for going home. i used nothing else that i brought.
1. A pack of gum. I chewed gum the whole time. It helped with heart burn and I didn't get nauseous like some women do.
2. A bottle of tums. When I did get heart burn I asked the nurse if I could take one and she said she would turn her back while I did.
3. Lastly a bottle of water. Those ice chips suck. Yes I know you are not supposed to have water but I took 3 sips through the whole labor process...and let me tell you it was heaven.

it was nice having some snacks other than what they offered at the hospital

or cell phone.
A going-home outfit for yourself
An infant car seat.
A going-home outfit for baby, including a pair of socks or booties if the

I hardly used anything that I brought. I didn't have the energy to straighten my hair or do my makeup until the day we went home. Actually I just did my makeup. I wore a nursing tank and sweatpants the entire time I was there. LOTS of socks. SO in all, A couple pairs of sweatpants, nursing tanks, shampoo and stuff like that, socks, camera and charger, and clothes for you and baby to go home in. I also put DS in some sleepers while we were there. I didn't use any of the magazines I brought until pp.
Face wipes, toothbrush/toothpaste (The ones they provided were terrible), brush, slipper socks, robe, magazines, going home outfit, and 2 extra night gowns for the hospital.

This exactly. Actually the things I wish I would have brought were all for DH. He stayed the entire time and the little pull out sleeper thing sucked. Egg crate for sure is on our list for next time.
Even though I had an epi, it didn't work so I had no time for DVD's and magazines because I was in so much pain.
I only used 1/3 of what I packed. I wore the hospital gown the entire time because it was easier to use that while learning how to breastfeed. They even had a special gown built for it.
That said, I used my toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, brush, hair dryer), baby book, cameras, and going home outfit (pj's) for myself and DD. I also found the Boppy helpful to use while there and learning. That was seriously it. Good luck!

We used 1) money for vending machines/cafeteria, 2) toiletries 3) bras 4) cellphone/charger 5) camera 6) slipper socks 7) clothes for me/baby to wear home 8) receiving blankets for baby to use as car seat supports
We had so many visitors and napped in between so didn't do much reading. Our rooms had tv's with internet so we used those alot.
I would have liked a robe but I just wore a second gown backwards. That's the only thing I would have liked to have.
boppy if nursing, toothbrush/tooth paste, hair brush, face wash, lotion, chapstick, outfit home for you and LO. Phone and camera. that is all I needed. seriously.

any outfits for me besides the going home outfit (i lived in the hospital gowns because i was bleeding - i had a vaginal birth)
dh's computer (no wifi plus we were more focused on resting when we could)
make up and hair dryer (i was certain i'd try to freshen up to take pics after she was born but after the nurse saw me poop on the table and quite honestly after that i didn't care what i looked like lol)
i wish i brought my boppy. I didnt need all the undies I brought since i loved the hospital underwear. I used the hospital pads as well so I didnt need mine. I brought a robe and slippers/socks, hair ties, toothbrush and paste, brush, face wipes (the kind you dont need water for so if I didnt want to get up I could still feel clean.) I brought my phone charger and camera of course and brought books but didnt read a word. I brought sweats but never wore them except for going home. An outfit for baby (I used hospital blankie going home for her)

Boppy, nursing bras, toiletries, makeup, hair dryer. Everything else I took didn't get used. I even left in the same maternity clothes I arrived in.
ETA: Camera, cell phone, charger, and extra batteries. Forgot about those.

The three most important items in this order:
1. A pack of gum. I chewed gum the whole time. It helped with heart burn and I didn't get nauseous like some women do.

A receiving blanket and a cap for baby
Baby nail clippers or emery board. Scissors.
Face wipes, toothbrush/toothpaste (The ones they provided were terrible), brush, slipper socks, robe, magazines, going home outfit, and 2 extra night gowns for the hospital.
That's it. I didn't use 75% of what I brought.
seriously??? To the original poster....please do not feel like you NEED these things...
What I used:
socks
underwear
lip balm
shampoo, conditioner, hairbrush, toothbrush and paste, deoderant
contact solution/glasses
ipod
That's it.

toiletries
going home outfit for me and baby
robe
laptop/charger
camera/charger
cell phones/charger
extra clothes for DH
flip flops - my feet get really hot so I wore flip flops to walk the halls
HAIR TIES!!!
I used the mesh panties and pads the hospital provided. There was so much blood and other stuff....my own clothing would have been ruined.
I brought way too much stuff - I didn't do my hair or makeup once when I was there.
We used 1) money for vending machines/cafeteria, 2) toiletries 3) bras 4) cellphone/charger 5) camera 6) slipper socks 7) clothes for me/baby to wear home 8) receiving blankets for baby to use as car seat supports

I brought a crock pot as well. Dude, hospital food sucks.
Another thing I am really glad I brought was my flat iron for my hair. I looked good in all the photos!
it's easier if i list what i didn't need:
any outfits for me besides the going home outfit (i lived in the hospital gowns because i was bleeding - i had a vaginal birth)
dh's computer (no wifi plus we were more focused on resting when we could)
make up and hair dryer (i was certain i'd try to freshen up to take pics after she was born but after the nurse saw me poop on the table and quite honestly after that i didn't care what i looked like lol)
underwear (the mesh panties are awesome)
my boppy (i used a pillow)
good luck!
