Very Basic bottle cleaning question

Hi for our baby shower we got many useful gifts and we are trying to see if some of them are unnecessary.

1. We got Philips Avent BPA Free Microwave Steam Sterlizer
2. We got baskets for washing the bottles in a dish washer
3. We got Drying station for bottles and nipples

Are all these three things necessary?
What is the process?
1. We wash the bottles with hand on in a dish washer
2. We sterlize them in the Sterlizer
3. We dry them on a rack

Is this what we are supposed to do?
We are trying to see if we can return an unnecessary item and get something more useful.

Thanks

Re: Very Basic bottle cleaning question

  • I think the dish washer basket it a must, but that's b/c I use Dr. Brown's and they have 10,000 parts.  Not sure if you'll need them as much with Avent.
    I don't use a sterilizer, but maybe I should.
I do use the drying station, but could do without it.

  • I use them all actually, we don't run our dish washer every day so I use the Microwave steamer on those days.  Since I am BF I use it sometimes several times a day after I pump and for pacy washings.  The drying rack you could probably do with out, but I like mine because stuff drys much fast on it than a towel or in the steamer.
  • We hand wash and sterilize.

  • I do not use any of those items. Are you going to be ffing or bfing. I bf and don't bottle feed that often so I don't use any of those items. I use dr. brown bottle and just put the parts in my utensil basket of my dishwasher. I also have a sterilize setting on my dishwasher.
  • you only need to sterilize before 1st use. i rinse stuff then soak them in a mixing bowl of soap and hot water then rinse whenever and rack dry.,
