Interesting PIP: raw cow's milk vs. BM

Ijust opened my fridge and saw this and thought it was interesting.  Both the cow and I were "milked" yesterday - look at how much more water is in the skim part of the BM vs. the cow's milk.  You can barely see the cream on the top of the cow's milk (and neither containers have been touched all day).

Anyhoo - I just found it interesting.  Thought I'd share:

ETA - don't judge the filth on my fridge.  I'm a busy lady and my fridge is low on the priority list to clean.  lol

  • I can barely even see the difference in the cow's milk.  That is interesting.

  • my bm doesnt seperate like that. does it mean its more fatty? seriously, looking at a bottle i pumped yesterday. it is all white.

do you really have a cow? i'm intrigued...

I don't have a cow.  Someone we know does and we get their milk.

Interesting that yours doesn't separate.  Mine always does.  The cream/fatty part rises to the top.

  • Mine separates, but there's usually not much of the cream/fat.  Just a little sticks to the side of the bottle, but that's it.

You're going to hate me, but that's just one boob's worth.  I get 8 oz. per sitting (in 10 minutes).  I'm a milk machine.  Embarrassed

  • ohhh ok, there is a little tiny bit that sticks to the edge and makes a ring. That's it though. Maybe I am lacking nutrients.

I'm sure everyone's is different and tailored to the specific needs of your baby.  Mine looks different day to day.  Now I'm wondering if there may be something wrong with mine - like it's too watery or something.

I'm thinking it has something to do with the age of our babies? Maybe my milk supply is still adjusting. Interesting though! I wish I had a neighbor with a cow. Very cool.

  • I dont think there is anything wrong with you AW mine looks the same!

It also makes a difference in the time of day. My night pumps look like that. If I pump in the morning it's less fatty and doesn't really seperate.
