Hehe. I thought mine was kidding. We were in my family room on the floor petting the dog. I got up to walk into the kitchen. He started to get up but stayed on one knee and called my name. I turned around and he said "Will you marry me?" Short and sweet.
I walked back over and said "Of course I will". Then he pulled the box out of his pocket and I realized he was serious. I just got on the floor and a started hugging and hugging him.
Minutes went by and he said "Well, do you want to see your ring??"
ilovetolaugh, would you do me the honor of spending the rest of your life with me and Marrying me?
he had to get it out quick because we were on a walk and i was looking over a bridge at the ice chunks and i saw him do what i thought was falling down, so i spun around really fast to help him get up....nope, he was on one knee! haha aw dh, so cute
Ack!! I have no idea! And it was only five years ago! I do remember he beat around the bush, and forgot to say the magic words "will you marry me". I think he started with, "you know how much I love you right?" and was I was like uh huh. And he basically started giving a cover letter/resume of our time together. Bizarre!
We had talked constantly about marriage but had decided to wait a while because of some family issues. One night we were laying in the grass at his house watching the stars and he rolled over to me and said "lets not wait". Doesn't sound like much but it was all I needed to hear.
By the way Lemon: that is the cutest little bald head on your baby boy!! I just love bald babies!!

It was pretty short, as I was hysterical by the time I realized what he was doing in the middle of a fancy little Italian restaurant filled with people, he had the ring come out on my dessert plate with "Will you marry me?" written on the platter with chocolate...as soon as the waiter dropped my plate and stepped to the side, DH jumped up and ran around the table, took the ring box from the plate, dropped to his knee and whispered to me,
"Are you ready to spend the rest of your life with me?"
and now my pg hormones have taken over and I am crying at my desk! Thank you Lemon!!!
We went for a walk, and he just started talking about our future and how much he missed me (he had just gotten home after being away for 2 months), He didn't really plan word for word what he was going to say, it was more just like a normal conversation until he brought out the ring box from his pocket.
His little speech was long & sweet. He started off with saying that the past almost 5 years had been the happiest in his life & even though people said our long distance relationship (for 2 years!) wouldn't work he always knew it would. Then he got especially lovey dovey & made me cry even before he officially kneeled down & asked me to marry him! Awww I love DH.

We were celebrating our 6 year anniversary. He gave me a gift it was a new cell phone. He told me to open the box. I started to take it out and realized there was no cell phone in the box. There was a small jewelry box at the bottom. I opened it and looked at him and he said, "Do you want to get married?"

oh, and i forgot i just said "SHUT UP" gee, I am a klassy lady! haha
Very short and sweet. We were dancing to "our song" alone in a gazebo and he spun me out at the end and landed on one knee and said "will you marry me?" Of course I said yes :-)
The really cute one was after that. Prior to engagement we had never kissed (we were saving that for the proposal) and whenever we wanted to, he would look at me, get this look on his face like he wanted to kiss me, and then he would look away (to resist temptation or something :-)) So after I said yes, he looked at me and said "I don't have to look away anymore," and then he kissed me. My first real kiss ever :-)

Wow! Thats awesome...and you guys have great willpower!! )
Yes it was very short because I knew it was coming, you know seeing that I booked the venue the day before.
We were at dinner and I was looking out the window at the end of dinner (SF bay, bay bridge, coit tower) and when I looked back he had the ring on the table and said "So I was wondering, would you marry me?"
It was Valentine's Day, and we were at dinner. We had just eaten the main course, and he asked if I was ready for my Valentine's present. I said ok, and looked at him all confused because he hadn't brought anything in. He walked all the way around the table, getting the ring out on his way around. Then he said, "Baby, sweetie, I love you. Will you marry me?" Of course I said "YES!" and we hugged and kissed and all that jazz.
DH is not such a good on-the-spot speech giver. I blame English being his second language.
His proposal was something along the lines of (keep in mind we'd already been together 8 years) "Really think before you answer, think about all the hard times, all the crap we've been through. Think about if you REALLY want to do this. Will you marry me?"

I came back from work one day to find DH in the living room...with the big production going on, rose petals everywhere, candles, 2 dozen of long stem roses, our song playing, and Dh sitting on the couch, looking like he was going to pass out.. so i sat with him and he just started saying that he loved me for a long time now and that he could not imagine his life without me....bla bla bla (by this time I know what is going on and not listening to a word...) and then he drops on one knee and asked me the french version of Will you be my wife. Of course i said yes

That is hilarious!
I know, right?? I guess he thought he was being chivalrous and giving me an out??? Oi vey. That man.
He pulled over at his "spot" and we were enjoying the view and sail boats in the Intercoastal and he starts telling me that he loves me and then says "Will you be my Baby always?" and I said "If you make me your wife!", then he held out the ring box and said, "That's kind of what I had in mind". He always says that he had a whole speech, but I changed things

he was annoyed that I knew... I had seen the ring box minutes before he proposed on Christmas morning. (he didn't do a good job of hiding it, I wasn't snooping)
My engagement ring was a graduated with my masters degree present.
We booked our venue 2 weeks before he proposed ... so I knew it was going to happen. (yeah, we're a little backwards, I know)
There's a huge backstory to what happened with his proposal .... so what he ended up saying when I saw the ring in the gift bag was, "will you still marry me?" We were in the kitchen in our house.

DH proposed on our doorstep to our apartment lol. Long story, made short .... he planned this elaborate, perfect day at the beach. He even woke up early and went to ask my parents for their blessing in marrying me. We went to the beach, rode bikes, had a picnic, dinner at Duke's in Malibu (absolutely gorgeous, right on the water), made a bonfire on beach with smores. But every time he wanted to pop the question, something got in the way! So by the end of the night on our way back home he was so frustrated and quiet. Finally before walking inside the house he got down on his knee and said he wanted to end the perfect day where we had begun together. He actually by that time did surprise me lol!

I remember it well because he didn't say anything! He had "Will you marry me?" written on a plate in chocolate with the ring in the center of the plate. He just sat back and waited for my response (as did the rest of the restaurant).
We were at these local cliffs, taking in the view, he was standing behind me and said, "You are the sweetest, prettiest girl I've ever met, <pause> and I want to spend the rest of my life with you." This made me spin around, at which time he dropped to his knee and pulled out the ring. Then, "Will you marry me?"
Re: Another lovey dovey post... (poll)
His "speech" was short and sweet. He said:
I love you with all my heart and want nothing else but to spend the rest of my life with you, will you marry me?

Mine's not terribly romantic but cute anyway. He proposed first thing in the morning with me still half asleep:
DH: Let's do something different today.
Me: Ok, like what?
DH: Let's get married.
Me: **crazy confused look**
Then he pulled out the ring and said, "maybe not today, but soon?"
I was in such shock that I only heard a few words. "Love you", "Wife", "Have babies with you", "Will you marry me?".
He can't remember what he said either. He almost knocked a glass of water in my lap so he said it made him forget the speech he prepared.
Baby #2 on the way!

Hehe! He is trying really hard to grow some hair, but in all reality it's just peach fuzz coming in.
Short. He was really nervous.

i had no idea it was coming. he was nervous and got down on one knee and just asked. i was super classy and said "are you shittting me?"
lol, i had no idea it was coming so soon, plus there was no lovey dovey speech building up to it, so he totally caught me by surprise!
