Sorry to intrude on 0-6...

But, I was packing my hospital bag last night & I have always been an over packer...I live by the saying "it's better to have & not need than to need & not have" but I really don't want to have an over stuffed bag walking into the hospital so could you ladies tell me the things that you really NEEDED & USED while at the hospital for yourself, DH/SO, & LO.

Thank you in advance for your help.....I know that you are all busy & I really to appreciate it!!

  • Well, I am an overpacker as well so I had waaayyy too much stuff with me in the hospital.  I had a vag delivery so I was only there for 3 days/2 nights.  My DH brought my laptop the day after I delivered and I didn't even touch it.   I heard from others to definitely bring my Boppy and it was well worth it.  I used it all the time with holding the little one.  I had brought 3 changes of clothes (in case I was going to have a C section) but I really wore 2 tops and one set of stretchy capris (it was mid April) the whole time I was there.  I brought an extra pillow with me and that was good too...it reminded me of home (I hated staying in the hospital!).  I was glad to have my own shower stuff too, although they had toiletries at the hospital for your use if you needed it.  I brought my own underwear but I ended up wearing the mesh panties they give you because I didn't want to ruin my own underwear (even though I brought my rattiest nastiest granny panties with me knowing they would probably get ruined--I wore them at home the first couple of days).  Good luck packing!!

  • I was happy to have snacks for us, make up, flat iron, boppy and my lap top to send an email with pics to friends and fam. You don't need much though, I wore hospital gowns the whole time.

I packed way too much, all I used was my toothbrush and shower stuff and we brought the boppy which we did use.  Besides that I honeslty didnt use much else.  Obvioulsy pack clothes to go home in and clothes for your lo to go home in and this sounds wierd but I would bring toilet paper lol the hospital stuff is super rough!

  • Thanks ladies....I have to go home & empty my suitcase Wink
  • Dont forget that your dh will need a pillow, and I would bring an extra one for yourself.. the hosp. pillows are paper thin.  I also brought a down blanket.  I was very happy I brought my laptop... I watched movies on it during contractions :)  My own shower stuff really did make me feel a little bit normal.  Def bring your own snacks/sodas for dh.. they are expensive at the hospital.
