s/o witching hour(s)

What do you do to try and console your baby?

Re: s/o witching hour(s)

  • Now that I know it is coming and about what time, I just avoid it by putting her to sleep earlier.  I think it is because she is overly tired, so this seems to help.  I think our witching hours are a thing of the past now! (I hope)

    Indeed.

  • Sometimes I put him down for just 2-3 minutes (even if he is screaming) and when I pick him back up and give him his paci he is a new baby.  Then I hold him close and put my cheek to his. Those 2 minutes help us both re-group.  GL!

    this.

  • I put L in the moby wrap and walk outside til she falls asleep. She loves being outside and doesnt cry again til we come back in. I thought it was a one time thing but its been happening for the past few days.. I too am going to try to avoid it tomorrow!

  • Thanks! I'm hoping is that and not collic -- I just can't see putting him down for hours.
  • I used this video of a hair dryer playing A LOT.  We also used the moby.  Bath time always calmed her down too.

  • give him a bath, and get him to sleep before he gets tooo tired.  no prob!
  • My son I hope is past his witching hours but I would run the faucet.  The minute I turned it on he would settle down.  I would let it run for a few minutes and out he would go.  My pedi said the days are too long for some babies and they cant deal.
  • We always tried the 5 S's (if she wasn't hungry or wet).  Swaddle, side lie, swing, shush, suck

  • Owen doesn't really have a witching hour. He does get cranky if he is kept up too long before a nap or bedtime. I know his cues pretty well and put him to bed when it's time.
