Ethan just started eating cereal and oatmeal. I remember someone mentioning some good sites on making your own food and ideas/tips for starting food. Please post!
We have the Beba Babycook and I bought So Easy Baby Food Kit to go with it. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I get fresh produce, steam it, then puree it and then freeze it in the trays. Polly doesn't really eat that much puree anymore but DH loves the fruit ice cubes for his smoothies so we are getting a lot more out of the cooker than originally planned, which is good bc its expensive.
But really, it's so simple to do your own thing. It's trial and error when steaming and getting the right consistency. Just make sure you've got lots of room in your freezer.
Lil' G was born April 25, 2008!
Big C was born September 28, 2011!
I have the top 100 baby purees cookbook, by annabelle karmel. Wholesome baby food is also a great website.
I have a steamer and a food processor, and that was really all i needed. I jsut froze the portions in ice cube trays, and hten put them in ziploc bags labelled w/the contents and date.
You will love doing it! It saves you so much money and really isn't all that time consuming
BTW I can't believe he's almost ready to start solids - when did that happen???

I used my food processor. ?I didn't buy a "baby sized" baby food maker. ? I just made lots and froze it.?
I really just pureed stuff, but since she's moved onto table food, I've been using The Petit Appetit cook book. ?
