I think it's creepy IMO to have a public viewing of his body. Did they do this for Elvis (I really don't know)? I just can't imagine wanting to see him dead.

If I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me. For I must be traveling on now. Because there are too many places I've got to see. -Allen Collins & Ronnie VanZant
My favorite verse!
it wouldnt be a viewing if it was a close casket. If it was closed then it would be called "calling hours"

I thought they already said yesterday that there would be a public viewing.
And it might be closed casket. When Ronald Regan died and he was lying in state in the capitol, they called it a viewing and it was closed casket. They kept saying "viewing" so I wondered if it would be open casket, but it was not.
ETA:I misread the title. I thought it said "will" instead of "should". I don't think viewings are a big deal. That's how they always are in my family so maybe I'm just used to it.
I'm not a fan but I think they should have a viewing (open casket) just for his fans. Plus, like the other pp said...he would have probably wanted it that way. Maybe it is in his will?
Re: Do you think they should have a public viewing of MJ?
sure! CNN/FOX/MSNBC will love it. who cares about Iran and North Korea? MJ, MJ, MJ!

I think viewings are creepy anyway - however, the entire universe will want to see him. And given the way he was, he would want it, too.
ditto this, on all counts
