I make him 4, 6oz bottles a day (24oz) but he NEVER finishes one. Many times he'll only take 3 oz, sometimes four. I estimate that he is getting 16-18 ounces a day. He's not a huge eater either....but just seems really distracted during feedings and doesn't want to drink. Everything I am reading says that the minimum he should be drinking is 24 oz.
Do you think it's ok that he's not much of a drinker or eater? It's funny because I've been starting to think he's much smaller than my first son....but they were the same at the 6 month check up. I have his 9 month appointment next week and of course will be asking these questions also. He seems totally fine, happy, sleeps well, crawling, starting to pull up, etc.
Thanks!
Re: 9 month old drinks very little formula....
We have had the same concern with our DS. I just got an email back from his dr and she said just to let him dictate the amount. She recommends 20-24 oz total/day at this point but if it's alittle less not too worry.
Her recommendation was to start putting bm in a sippy and offering before all solid meals. We going to try that but the sippy cup has been a challenge as well.
