? re side lying position

After the second waking of the night, I tend to feed in the side lying position so that I can at least rest while he continues to feed. I often fall asleep while he is still nibbling. I'm concerned that he doesn't get burped. Gas frequently wakes him (even if we've nursed in other positions and gotten a good burp) and I haven't necessarily noticed more frequent wakening from gas after side lying ... but I've been wondering what others do in this situation. Do you make yourself wake up to burp? Or is it OK for both of us to go to sleep without a burp?

I don't burp at night in the side laying position usually. For some reason he doesn't get as gassy that way.

I couldn't use side lying position when DS was young enough to warrant burping after a feed because of his reflux but I would guess that you don't need to. If he's happy sleeping then I'd leave him be.

Ditto. DD actually is just less likely to need to burp at night no matter position.

I don't burp DD when she nurses in the side lying position. This is my new favorite position, BTW! It's great for her 7am feeding so mama can get some more sleep. (She's STTN, but still :P)
